Moisture or Condensation on Outside

MOISTURE OR CONDENSATION ON OUTSIDE

There are a few different factors that may cause moisture or condensation on the outside cabinet:

Doors Shutting

If the doors do not shut completely, cool air can escape and cool the cabinet area around the gap. The coolness of the cabinet will cause the humidity in the air to condense on the unit. Visually inspect the door gaskets for any gaps in the gasket. Check for dirty or damaged seals and that the doors are aligned properly.

Door Mullion

Moisture in the air will condense on the door mullion if the energy saver mode is on. Energy saver mode will deactivate the heater that prevents condensation from forming on the door mullion. Default is energy saver mode on, so the heater is off. If condensation is forming on the door mullion, turn the energy saver mode off until it resolves the condition. It may be necessary to deactivate this feature during the summer months when conditions are more humid, or if in a coastal environment.

Environmental Factors

In humid environments such as coastal areas or during the summer months, moisture in the air may condense on the cabinet which is usually cooler than the room environment. If this is the case, condensation should be minimal and dried off with a soft cloth. There could also be excess moisture on the refrigerator from cooking as well. If you have been cooking most of the day or for a few hours, wipe the excess moisture away.
