We are pleased to announce that the Android Jelly Bean (software version VS93021B) upgrade for the LG Spectrum 2 is now available. In addition to native Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 OS (, we will also include a few LG UX improvements:
  • Tasks application – Lets you sync your tasks in Outlook so you always have insight into those important to-do items.
  • Enhanced notification
    1. Group updates from the same application together, and allow you to expand or collapse notifications.
    2. Display event description to let you quickly see relevant details without having to open the app.
    3. Conveniently access to the brightness control in the Notifications panel.
  • Google Now feature is included as part of recently used apps to discover information when you need it without searching.
Disclaimer: Actual network speeds depend on network availability, coverage levels, tasks, file characteristics, applications and other factors. Performance may be impacted by transmission limitations, terrain, in-building/in-vehicle use and capacity constraints.

Check your software version

1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps > Settings > About phone

2. Tap Software information.


View the current software under Software version.


1. Fully charge the battery.


Save any important data before updating the software on your device. Any data not saved to a PC may be erased; i.e. contacts, images, etc. To backup your data, connect your phone to a PC via the USB cable. After connecting, select Media sync (MTP) mode on your phone. Copy personal folders to your PC, i.e. DCIM (photos, videos), Downloads, Music, etc.

You may also download a third party backup solution using the Play Store on your device.


Calling and messaging functions are not available during the update process. The entire upgrade process varies depending on software package size and your internet connection speed.

Software Update - Over the air

1. When a software update is available, a prompt notifying you of the update will display. Select Begin downloading, the update will downloaded in the background.


2. Once the download is complete you will be prompted to update. Select Apply update to begin.


If you do nothing the update will automatically start in 3 minutes.


3. Your phone will restart in software update mode. A progress bar will display your upgrade progress under an animation of an android.

4. When the upgrade is complete, your phone will restart. Once your phone has powered on you will be notified that the software update successfully installed. Tap OK to close the notification.



Depending on your phones software version you may need to repeat the software upgrade until your final software version is VS93021B.


If you have not been notified of an available software update, you can manually check if one is available.

1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps > Settings > About phone > Software update.


Tap Check for updates to manually check for a new update.

3. You will be prompted if a new software update is available, tap Download. Please go to Step 1 of Software Update to continue.



If you are unable to update your software over the air you may use the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant.

1. With your phone powered on, connect to your PC via the microUSB cable.

2. On your computer you will be notified that your phone has been connected and a AutoPlay screen should display. Select VZW_Software_upgrade_assistang.exe to install the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant.


Depending on your version of Microsoft Windows you may receive a warning for permission to continue, select Continue.

3. Once the software upgrade assistant has been installed, run the application. The upgrade assistant will scan for your device and the status will display Upgrade Available. Select Upgrade LGVS930 to upgrade your software.


4. Your phone will restart once the update is complete and the status in the Software Upgrade Assistant will change to Up to date.

PC Requirements: 1GHz or higher Pentium-compatible processor At least 512 MB of RAM (memory) Windows 2000 (SP4 or later) or Windows XP (SP1 or SP2), Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8. Administration rights on the PC for software installation may be required and a high-speed Internet connection is recommended.
