If your LG air conditioner is not blowing cold air, check the operating
mode, the airflow around the outdoor unit, and the filter condition.
You can resolve most cooling issues by switching to Cooling mode,
clearing the area around the outdoor unit, and cleaning the filter.
Why Is Your Air Conditioner Not Blowing Cold Air?
- If your air conditioner is set to Air Purifying, Dehumidification, AI, or Energy Saving mode, the outdoor unit may not run continuously, and the air may not feel cold.
- If objects block the airflow around the outdoor unit, heat cannot escape properly, which can reduce cooling efficiency.
- If a dirty filter or curtains block the indoor unit’s air vents, poor airflow can reduce cooling performance and cause noise.
How to Resolve Air Conditioner Cooling Issues
Case 1. Change the Operating Mode to Cooling
Use your remote control to select Cooling mode. Set the temperature to
18°C (64°F) and the fan speed to High. Turn off any energy-saving or
low-noise mode. Let the air conditioner run for at least 30 minutes.
Make sure the outdoor unit turns on and check whether the air feels
cold.
Case 2. Clear and Cool the Outdoor Unit
Remove any objects around the outdoor unit to improve airflow. Install
a shade if the unit is in direct sunlight.
Lightly spray water on the back of the unit to cool it down and
improve cooling performance.
Case 3. Clean the Filter
Remove the filter. Use a vacuum to remove dust, or wash the filter with water if the filter is washable. Clean the filter every two weeks. Move any curtains or blinds blocking the indoor unit’s air intake.
Case 4. Still need help?
If the issue persists after following the steps above, you can get further support through LG Chatbot on our website or by requesting a technician visit.
On models released in 2024 or later, cooling may feel weaker if Energy
Saving Planner is turned on in the LG ThinQ app.
This feature
controls power consumption during cooling. For cooler air, open the LG
ThinQ app and select Useful Features, Energy Saving Planner, and
Delete Settings.
FAQ
- Q. Why Does a Leaf Icon, ECO, or EO Appear on the Display When the Air Conditioner Is Not Cooling Enough?
- A. An energy-saving mode is currently active. In this mode, the air conditioner adjusts the outdoor unit to reduce power consumption, so cooling may feel weaker. Use the remote control to switch to Cooling mode.
- Q. How Can I Tell If the Air Conditioner May Have a Refrigerant Problem?
-
A. The refrigerant may
be insufficient if the outdoor unit runs normally and the indoor
unit produces strong airflow, but the air is not cold.
Depending on the product, an error code such as CH 32, CH 38, CH 90, or CH 91 may appear on the display while the air conditioner is running.
