I wouldnt recommend this product
Would have been 5-stars, remote sucks!
This is an excellent air conditioner and well worth the price! We have been using it for approx. 6 months now. We have saved more than 33% on our electric consumption each month. It's quiet, very cold, gets cold fast, hi-tech with filter sensor and can be controlled by an app on smartphone.

The only complain we have is the remote control. After using it, it goes on sleep mode/power saving mode and can no longer be used. When the power button on the remote control is pressed, it will just show all the characters/symbols on the screen but doesn't function as expected - there's no way to control the air conditioner. The battery level shows that the battery is still full.

The only workaround to make this work is to ALWAYS REMOVE THE REMOTE CONTROL BATTERIES after use (not use it for few minutes as this resets the remote control). Then, put back the batteries in the remote control. We have tried other troubleshooting including replacing the batteries with a new set but none else worked except what was mentioned.

IT SUCKS BIG TIME TO ALWAYS DO THIS EVERYTIME WE NEED TO CONTROL THE AIR CONDITIONER REMOTELY!!!

We have called the support hotline in the Philippines and were told that the warranty for the remote control is just 3 months. Whoa! We had Samsung air conditioner with remote control and never had issues whatsoever. It has been working for more than 13 years now and we disposed of it only to make an upgrade to LG. The LG support person told us to try having the remote control checked at the local LG service center but if it's already defective, it will not be replaced and we'll have to buy another one. What if it happens again on the next remote control? That means we will need to buy another new remote control every after 3 friggin months!!! FTW!!!! That's an extremely bad service, LG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are building vacation rental properties and would like to use LG air conditioners, however, we cannot have this kind of issue with the remote control. We are now evaluating other brands of air conditioners and might not use LG air conditioner ever again because of our bad experience.

Another thing that sucks and is a real pain in the neck is the setup for the ThinQ app. The app connects to the wi-fi network but doesn't recognize all the special characters. It requires that the wi-fi password to be very simple (which puts the wi-fi network at risk). What's wrong, LG? Why put our wi-fi network at risk?

This is our second LG appliance. Our first was the LG inverter automatic washing machine (top load) and we have been very satisfied with it. That was the reason we purchased an LG inverter air conditioner. But now, since we encountered an issue with the air conditioner remote control, we are extremely disappointed.

LG, please do something about this! It's a make or break thing for you! You know what will happen when this spreads on the internet.
