I love the option of having a timer. It makes using this very convenient. I’ve noticed a big difference since we’ve using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome appliance! This thing amazes me. When you fill the bucket with tap water and turn it on, the machine automatically does a UV light treatment to purify the water. You can choose to purify the air, turbo speed or silent or purify and humidify. The humidifier does a rain show that’s pretty neat and calming. There are lights that let you know the quality of the air. You can turn them off if you don’t want lights on. The humidifier function lets you set it from 30% up to 70%. There is a sleep timer on the machine also. You can set it for 2,4,6,8,or 12 hours. The WiFi function is easy and also really nice to have! It tells you what the air quality in your home is and even averages by the day, week or month. You can use the remote to adjust the settings or you can use your phone and control the device through the app. I’m so happy to have this purifier! Our last home had mold and mildew issues and we were always sick. We bought a new house last year and I don’t ever want to live in those conditions again. Being able to control the quality of air in my entire home and not just a room is like having a pillow at night. It’s More of a necessity than a luxury. We do have a humidifier on our furnace as well. I wanted a purifier. I don’t really know if the humidifier on the furnace runs less or more or not but I do know the percentage of humidity and the quality of the air and the humidifier on our furnace wouldn’t ever give me that info. I do highly recommend this product!

Is using distilled water recommended? I saw that in one of the reviews. That would get very expensive, very quickly.

The owner's manual for the LG SIGNATURE Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Air Purifier Model # AM501YWM1 does not recommend using distilled water. It instructs to refill the water bucket with clean water once a day or before each use. If water is left in the bucket, it may contaminate the bucket, and even refilling with clean water will not prevent odor issues...^Ivan

Are there any filters or other parts that need to be replaced on a regular basis?

The LG SIGNATURE Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Air Purifier Model # AM501YWM1 has an Ultra-fine filter (pre-filter) located beneath the filter tray that can be rinsed under running water. If the Ultra-fine filter (pre-filter) is very dirty, wash in a solution of water and neutral detergent. It has a Deodorizing Black Filter that will need to be replaced. The deodorizing Black Filter should not be washed as that would shorten the filter's lifespan or stain the unit. It has a PM 1.0 Black Filter that can be soaked in a solution of water and neutral detergent for about 30 minutes. You will need to make sure the neutral detergent is completely dissolved in warm water (95 – 104°F / 35 – 40°C) and fully immerse the PM 1.0 Black Filter in the soapy water, then soak it in clean water and then rinse under running water to make sure no detergent residue remains. The PM1.0 (super ultra-fine dust) sensor is used to detect dust density levels and it should be cleaned it periodically for best performance. If water is not coming out of the Watering Engine™, it may need to be cleaned. The Watering System should be cleaned weekly to prevent mold or bacteria growth and odor. You will need to lift and remove the top and side water bucket filters, rinse the inside and outside of the water bucket with clean water, and dry the water bucket with the ultra-fine cloth provided to dry the window on the bucket. Use clean tap water. Do not use water that is hotter than 104°F (40°C) to avoid product deformation or failure. The water bucket's window is easily scratched. Clean it using the ultra-fine cloth provided. Keep the cloth clean and free of foreign objects. Do not use steel wool or abrasive pads to clean the water bucket. For intensive cleaning of the water bucket filters, dissolve baking soda in water and soak the water bucket filters in the solution for 30 minutes. • Use 6 ½ tbsp. (100 g) baking soda in 2 ½ gal. (10 L) water. Scrub the water bucket filters with a toothbrush or soft brush to remove any foreign objects and thoroughly rinse the filters to remove any baking soda residue. If any detergent residue remains on the filter, it may cause sudsing or odor during operation. Use of neutral detergent may result in severe sudsing. For this reason, baking soda is preferred...^Ivan

How is the water released into the air? Is it evaporative or ultrasonic? Ultrasonic is no good, as it disperses the hard minerals with it, which collect on things as a white filmy powder, especially on electronic circuit boards. Even tap water does

You can select your desired humidity level when the LG SIGNATURE Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Air Purifier, Model # AM501YWM1 is operating in Humid Purify mode. This unit is not described as an UltraSonic humidifier that uses vibrations to send water droplets into the air. It is an Evaporative humidifier, that evaporates water inside the humidifier and sends water vapor into the air...^Ivan

How often do I need to refill. Does it really disperse 9L in an hour? At that rate i'll be swimming in my room

The LG SIGNATURE Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Air Purifier, Model # AM501YWM1 does not "disperse 9L in an hour". The unit has a water bucket that has a capacity of 0.8 gallons (3.2L) and it has a humidifying capacity of 700 cc/h. To use the unit, you will need to turn it off, t, fill a container with water, and slowly pour the water into the inlet in the center of the top cover. Add water gradually until a chime sounds and the Full Water icon lights up in the water level indicator. You need topay attention to the chimes and stop pouring immediately when the Full Water indicator appears. Do not allow water to sit for long periods in the water bucket. Empty and dry out the bucket when not using Humid Purify mode. When operating the product in Humid Purify mode, empty the bucket at least once a day or after each use. Refill with clean water once a day or before each use. If water is left in the bucket, it may contaminate the bucket, and even refilling with clean water will not prevent odor issues...^Ivan

Why does this cost as much as a major household appliance? Isn't this a filtered fan with a humidifier and wifi card??

The LG SIGNATURE Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Air Purifier, Model # AM501YWM1 is both an Air Purifier and a Humidifier and it does not have a Wi-Fi card. It has built-in Wi-Fi and you would need to open the Google Play Store or Apple App Store application on your smartphone, search for the LG Smart ThinQ application, and download and install the application on your phone to register the unit then select the product from a list and follow the instructions in the application to connect the product to your home Wi-Fi network. Registering through the LG Smart ThinQ application allows you access to various LG services..^Ivan

How many square feet of a room can this air purifier handle effeciently? I cannot find the specs anywhere on the site and want to know if it can handle my 1150sqft house or if it is only for a small bedroom size.

OK so help me understand. If I’m using this in a bedroom, let’s say, would I be better served by keeping the windows open? Or closed? Referring to the carbon dioxide issue. Does it help any that there is a good size plant in the room?

The LG SIGNATURE Smart wi-fi Enabled Air Purifier, Model # AM501YWM1 should not be placed near a window or near the air intake or outlet of an air conditioner or heater. Doing so may cause the humidity sensor to malfunction. Regrettably, we are not aware of the "carbon dioxide issue" that you are referring to and will need some clarification. The air purifier's watering engine rotates at high speed spraying 18L water in an hour to infuse moisture in inhaled air. Atomized water is dispersed from the air purifier to create a comfortable humidity level. It generates an ozone level of less than 0.001 ppm. The 2008 ozone standard is set at a level of 0.075 ppm averaged over an 8-hour period...^IFV
