What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet Air Delivery for the size. Simple set up, and the temperature control is right on target. Love the air sampling of the space temperature before turning on the cooling. Now I have 2 LG window units, and couldn't be happier. One in the kitchen, and the other in the dining room. We cook and entertain a lot, and these two LG cooling units augment our central cooling system when we have a lot of guests. The operation is not annoying, and people actually wonder if it is actually running. Nice job LG..... Thanks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good We bought the bundled washer and dryer and I am a little more critical of the dryer. The washer seems fairly easy to use- and is pretty quiet. I like the glass top so you can see the clothes inside. It also uses so little water we're almost wondering if it is getting the clothes clean. I do think the placement of the detergent dispenser- at the back under the lid is not great design but otherwise we're pretty happy.

Can install in wall? There currently is the same model but not working properly.

Asked by: Balena
The LG 12,000 BTU Heat/cool Window Air Conditioner with remote, Model # LW1212HR requires a standard single-hung or double-hung window for proper installation. The outside of the cabinet must extend outward for at least 12" and there should be no obstacles, such as a fence or wall, within 20" from the back of the cabinet because it will prevent heat radiation of the condenser. All side louvers of the cabinet must remain exposed to the outside of the structure Restriction of outside air will greatly reduce the cooling efficiency of the air conditioner or cause it to burn itself out. Non-window installations, including using wall sleeves, holes in walls or other types of installations are not recommended...^IFV

The clean filter light has been on for a few days and the filter is clean. We cleaned it and placed it back in. We turned it off to see if the light would reset and nothing. How can I fix this or what am I doing wrong?

Asked by: Daisyr1
This flashing red indicator light is a normal operation for certain models. On some newer models, the POWER INDICATOR will begin to flash when it is time for the air conditioner filter to be cleaned. It is possible to reset this indicator light by unplugging the unit for approximately 3 minutes, and then restoring power to the system.

Stopped blowing cold air. Most common part needed for repair?

Hello, We purchased this item new about 2yrs ago and it has recently stopped blowing cold air. It still turns on and blows, just not cold. As I live in South FL this is a problem that I would like to fix quickly. Which part/parts are commonly the culprit in this event? I need to get this thing repaired ASAP. I appreciate the help in advance. Thank you.

You may want to try troubleshooting the LG 12,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner with remote, Model # LW1212ER. Does the air conditioner cool at night and not during the day? If it does, then it is capable of cooling. It's performance can be greatly reduced on exceptionally hot days. You can try unplugging the unit for 30 seconds and while it is unplugged, check the Fresh Air Damper to make sure it is open and then close it. Use a stop watch to time the 30 seconds because the test will not work if the unit is not unplugged for 30 seconds. Plug the unit back in then turn it back on and set it on the COOL mode, set the temperature at its' lowest setting and the fan speed on high. You should hear the compressor turn on. It may take about 30 seconds but when it does turn on, put your hand in front of the discharge vents to see if it is cooling. If the outdoor temperature is above 95°C then you might want to try leaving the unit running during the day and raise the temperature up a little so it can maintain a more stable temperature so that when you decrease the temperature, it will cool more efficiently. Check to make sure that the unit is not installed in direct sunlight as that will result in reduced performance too. The sunlight hitting on the case will get it very hot and it will have difficulty discharging the heat. YOu will need to put an awning or find a way to shade the unit to keep the direct sunlight off it. If you have never had the unit serviced since you have had it, you should. Maintenance is the single most important thing you can do to make sure that the unit will function at peak performance. Clean the Air Filter and have the outside coils cleaned. Often, dust, pollen debris and other environmental particulates will build up on the coils and prevent proper cooling. If you're careful, you can try using a garden hose and a bristled brush to clean the coils or check with your local hardware store for an air conditioner coil cleaner. If none of the above troubleshooting tips worked for you, the unit may need a repair service...^IFV
