Rated 2 out of 5 by from I purchased this for a converted garage to make into my son's bonus room. The area is less than 450 square feet; so I felt this model was a good choice. I always liked LG products; but, I believe this AC unit does not sufficiently cool down the room as designed. I hear the fan going but there is no consistent cold air coming from it. Even though, I had it professionally installed and had a new outlet changed due to the AC unit plug design; I believe I wasted a lot of money to have the LG AC unit acting merely as an expensive fan. I already threw out the box and packaging, so I cannot return to Home Depot where it was purchased. If you have any suggestions to help, please let me know. It just doesn't cool down the room very well. Thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value We finally installed the unit a week ago and it works very well. Only one suggestion for improvement - the air deflector assembly is not very effective in directing the side-to-side air flow as the vertical deflector vanes are too short to deflect all of the output air flow.

There is a lever for a vent open or close.... Well where is the vent and what does this do

Asked by: Kal225
The vent lever is located behind the front grille above the control knobs on the LG 12000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Cooling & Heating, Model # LW1216HR. As per the instructions on page 15 of your owner's manual, "Before installing the front grille, pull out the vent control lever located above the unit control knobs". The lever then has to be guided carefully through the grille as you push the grille in to snap it back in place. Page 18 has a description for the vent lever which opens the damper so room air can be drawn outside when the vent lever is pulled out to the 'open' position. It has to be pushed in to the 'closed' position in order to maintain the best cooling conditions...^IFV

Please advise the adapter I must order for this type of plug

Asked by: memii1105
The LG 12000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Cooling & Heating, Model # LW1216HR has to be plugged into a standard 250V, 3-wire grounding outlet protected by a 20 Amp. time delay fuse or 20 Amp. circuit breaker. Due to the risk of fire and potential safety hazards, the use of extension cords, surge protectors or multi-outlet adapters or an adapter plug with this air conditioner is very strongly discouraged. The power cord for this unit has a NEMA Configuration of 6-20p (one vertical blade, one horizontal blade and a "D-Shaped" grounding pin...^IFV

Where is the drainage at ? Its been leaking in the front

Asked by: June23
This air conditioner is equipped with a slinger fan. The fan has an outer ring that runs through the water that collects in the base pan. That condensate is then picked up by the fan and expelled onto the condenser coils, making the machine operate more efficiently. In humid weather, excess water may cause the base pan to overflow. Remove the drain cap, from the back of the cabinet, and secure a drain pipe in order to drain the excess moisture. Information about this can be found on page 19 of the owner’s manual. ^CP
