What people are saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice balance of features and size I use a pair of these in my 400 sq ft workshop. I usually only run one of them at a time to keep the temperature in a good range; it can heat in the winter and cool in the summer. The sound it makes is pretty muted, doesn't interrupt conversations or TV. If I ever work with all the doors open in middle of summer or winter for a project, turning both on at once gets it back to "room temperature" pretty quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch window air conditioner! I purchased this window air conditioner to replace a similar unit already installed. This new one is quiet, has additional features that the old one did not have, and is functioning perfectly. The instructions were beyond adequate. I am very pleased with the appearance of the unit and the quality also. The remote control is an additional feature that I thought was not going to be needed but has turned out to be a major convenience. Highly recommended!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Well this window unit with a/c and heat did not last long at all. I tried to get it replaced and that didn’t happen. It ran for 2 months. I will think twice before I buy LG AGAIN!!

used the heater this winter worked great for my small office. A/C does not get cold. I have it turned on to cool, but does not blow cold air.

Asked by: zolos
What is the square footage for the office that you are using the LG 12,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Cooling & Heating, Model # LW1216HR in? This unit has a BTU rating of 11,500/12,000 BTU which will cool an estimated area of 550 square feet. While there are many reasons why your AC might not be properly cooling your home, one of the most common culprits is a system that is too small. If the AC is too small for the size of your office, it'll keep working to reach that temperature, but to no avail because it lacks the capacity to cool such a large space. As a result, it never completes a cycle and runs continuously. You can also try cleaning your air conditioner's filter and the coils to see if improving the airflow fixes the problem. If there is ice buildup, you'll need to run the unit with just the fan in order to melt it off. If that doesn't get the unit blowing cold air again, it could be refrigerant levels are low (see below). How long have you had the air conditioner? Part of your regular maintenance should be cleaning the area around your compressor and covering it for the winter. Over the year, leaves, dirt, and other debris can build up and stop the unit from running properly...^IFV

My unit stopped blowing warm nor hot air. The anwer that you gave when asked why it's not heating, the answer that you gave was that the heating function on this unit is supplemental. A shocking answer. Please tell me the truth.

Asked by: muriithi
It should not be shocking that heating for the LG 12,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Cooling & Heating is supplemental heat. That is how Cooling/Heating Air Conditioners are designed. If you are saying that the heating is not working as it did before, you will need to have the unit inspected to determine what the issue is. There is a lever for a vent open or close.... Well where is the vent and what does this do

Asked by: Kal225
The vent lever is located behind the front grille above the control knobs on the LG 12000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Cooling & Heating, Model # LW1216HR. As per the instructions on page 15 of your owner's manual, "Before installing the front grille, pull out the vent control lever located above the unit control knobs". The lever then has to be guided carefully through the grille as you push the grille in to snap it back in place. Page 18 has a description for the vent lever which opens the damper so room air can be drawn outside when the vent lever is pulled out to the 'open' position. It has to be pushed in to the 'closed' position in order to maintain the best cooling conditions...^IFV
