What people are saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this thing. Have central air in my home, however it broke and was unable to be fixed in mid summer and couldn't have a new one installed for a month. Over 90 degree heat in upstate NY. Bought this LG to use temporarily after reading a lot of great reviews. It lived up to the hype. Excellent purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought a LG portable air conditioner two years ago. I live in northern NY therefore did not use it daily, maybe 15 days per year. With that said, I installed it this spring and it did not cool. I contacted LG several times with no resolution. I now have “like new” air conditioner that I need to pay to get rid of. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LG PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loud!!! This unit cools the room as advertised. However, the Fan is very loud on both the Low and High speeds. When the compressor kicks on the unit let’s out a bang. I could never sleep with this running, I would have a better nights sleep next to a train station.

If I am running the AC unit on Dry mode, do I need to have the venting hose hooked up to the back of the unit going to a window? I heard that if I am using dry mode I dont need to have the venting hose connceted and can just drain resevior.

Asked by: Cdubz
As described on page 20 of the owner's manual for the 10,000 BTU (6,500 BTU, DOE), 115-Volt Portable AC w/ Dehumidifier Function and LCD Remote in White, Model # LP1018WNR, the Upper Drain port is not used in the Cool and Fan modes. It is used for the Dry mode when you need dehumidification in high humidity only. You can remove the exhaust vent hose and then remove the drain plug from the upper port and insert a drain hose (12 mm [1/2"] outer diameter) and place the open end of the hose over a drain or bucket or out the window...^IFV

Does it need water to work? Because there’s a slot and I don’t know what does in there.

Asked by: Jule37
The LG 10,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP1018WNR does not need water to work. It doesn't use water at all. Is uses R410A Refrigerant to cool much like your car's air conditioning or a refrigerator. The only water involved is the condensation that drips into the internal water collection tank when the air conditioner extracts the warm hot moisture-laden air from your room to cool it...^IFV

Can this portable ac unit vent the hot air into another room versus outside?

Asked by: Rando
Like all air conditioners, this unit has to be vented to the outside. It comes with an exhaust vent hose that has to be attached to a window vent panel which is part of the window installation kit so you can vent it to the outside.
