What people are saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from dishwasher is ok My wife and I use to own an LG LDS5040WW dishwasher. It was great. The normal washing cycle was close to two hours long and the dishes, silverware and the dish racks were dry when the cycle ended. Now we have this dishwasher, LG LDF5545WW. The normal washing cycle takes just over three hours. To get the dishes and silverware to dry most of the time I have turned on two options. The first option is “Extra Dry” and the second one is “High Heat.” The dishes and silverware are mostly dry when the cycle ends, but the dish racks are still wet. When I remove the silverware from the holder water can get on the silverware. that’s why I must dry some of the silverware manually. Most of the time the dishes seem fine. Why it takes an extra hour to run the same cycle is beyond me. I have no idea what they have done to the new dishwasher but the old one worked a lot better. It’s as if they went backwards with the technology. Maybe the reason the water doesn’t dry on the racks is they might not have metal in them anymore. I like the fact that there is no heating element at the bottom like a lot of the other dishwashers have. The heating element on this unit like our last dishwasher is built-in. You can also download a different wash cycle only if you have a phone that supports NFC (Near-Field-Communication) option. My phone does not. Neither do either of my tablets. Would I buy this dishwasher again if I knew about these issues? I guess I would but my wife and I miss our old dishwasher. It worked great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor design I love my other LG appliances, but this dishwasher is a complete disappointment. The bottom rack pulls all the way out too easily and is very difficult to replace on its tracks. The top rack does not accommodate stemware, such as wineglasses. Very disappointing.

Does the LDS5040WW have a 3rd rack? The video under features shows a 3rd rack but my dishwasher doe not have one. It is misleading

I ordered this dishwasher because the video shows a 3rd rack however it seems this model does not come with one. Why show a video that is misleading on its features? Otherwise I am happy with this dishwasher. I would love an answer before I review the product. Thanks!

We regret your dissatisfaction with this dishwasher. Our documentation for this model all shows a 2 wash rack design. The images of the interior of this model, which are posted on our website, all show 2 wash racks inside this unit. There are no installation points available for another rack of dishes.

Is there a recommended dishwashing detergent for LG dishwasher

The installer told me that only finish tablets were to be used. I've always used Cascade liquid. Is there really a reason to only use Finish?
Asked by: denise123
We appreciate your interest in this dishwasher. We do not recommend any one particular detergent over another. What is recommended is that a RINSE AGENT also be used in conjunction with the detergent. The RINSE AGENT should be added to the appropriate dispenser.

what is the hybrid condensing drying system on a dishwasher?

how does the lg dishwasher dry
Asked by: lowes
Our old dishwasher had an electric element that heated the dishes after washing to dry them. We never used it. The dishes always dried by themselves. The LG has no element. The dishes dry by themselves without any additional heat. It is an electricity saving step I believe.

What does error alert FE stand for?

We get an alert of FE at least 2-3 times per month ever since we got the unit. Once we start the cycle over again, it usually makes it through without another error. Would like to know what this means and how to avoid it in the future.
Asked by: kgoldt
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dishwasher. The FE Error Code indicates an excessive amount of water has been supplied. In such a situation, the unit will likely require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair/support-repair-provider-lookup.jsp.
