Calling Features and Troubleshooting Calls

Instead of manually dialing phone numbers using the dial pad, you can use your Contacts list to dial quickly and easily.

Note: Some Settings, Menus, or Icons may differ from that of your device depending on your software version and wireless service provider.


  1. Open up your Contacts Icon

    Or open up Phone Icon > Contacts Tab

  2. Scroll through the contact list or tap the Search contacts box and enter the first letter(s) of the contact you want to call.
    You can also tap a letter along the right side of the screen to access names starting with the chosen letter.

  3. In the list that is displayed, tap the contact you want to call. Contacts with phone numbers will have the dialer icon Icon .

  4. In the Contact info screen, tap the phone number you wish to call.

    Note: Contacts may also be called from the dial Pad. Tap Phone Icon > Dial Tab.
    Start dialing a contacts name or number and the related contact will populate above the dial pad.
    Tap Icon to see a list of results, tap the name or number, then tap the call button Icon to call.

  5. To end the call, press the hang up button Icon

    1. During a call, open the dial pad and tap Menu Icon > Add call

    2. Enter a phone number and tap Icon

    3. Note: The two calls are displayed on the screen at the same time, and the first call is put on hold.

    4. To start a conference call, tap Merge calls

    • To reject an incoming call, drag Icon across the incoming call screen.

    • The mute button allows you to talk out loud but block your voice so that the other party on the phone cannot hear you.

    • Tap the button to turn it on

    • Speaker uses the phones loud speaker, normally when you cannot hold the phone or need your hands to be free or when you want multiple people to hear the phone call.

    • Note: To avoid damage to your hearing, do not hold the phone against your ear when the speaker phone is turned on.

    • Switch the call to a Bluetooth device that is paired and connected.

    • Tap the button to turn it on

    1. Open up your contact list

    2. Select a contact

    3. Tap Duo call (Video call)

    Note: If you have already initiated the call, you can tap the camera icon to turn it into a video call.

    1. Activate WiFi Calling

      1. Open Settings > wireless and network tab.

      2. Choose Wi-Fi Calling and activate it to enable the feature.

      3. In case you can’t find this option, search for it since it might be located somewhere else in the interface.

      Note: If your phone does not have Wifi calling, you can use a 3rd party app

    2. Ensure your account is set up for wifi calling

      • Some carriers require specific soc codes on your account to activate wifi calling

      • some carrier require a e991 adress

    3. Check with your carrier for billing options

      • If you have a set amount of call minutes, the wifi calls may count towards that time.

      • These calls may be subject to long distance calls.

    4. To avoid additional Fees

      • Set Wi-Fi Calling to handle all calls, which will turn off the device's cellular connection. See device common procedures for Wi-Fi Calling, and look for the Wi-Fi only or Never use Cellular Network setting.

      • Set Airplane mode to on, then turn on Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Calling.

      • Turn off roaming data in device settings. (May still allow some types of data, as designed by the device manufacturer.)

    Most 3rd party Apps will have their own website or can be downloaded from the play store.

    The Apps listed below can be used for video calling, most of them use data to make calls, for more information check the App description.

    • Facebook Messenger

    • Google Hangouts (you’ll need the Hangouts Dialer app)

    • Google Voice

    • Google Duo

    • Skype

    • Whatsapp

    • Fring

    • KakaoTalk

    • Tango

    1. Open the Phone app

    2. Tap the 3-dot icon Icon on the top-right corner

    3. Select Call Settings

    4. Select Call Blocking (Reject Calls)

    5. Select Blocked numbers

    6. Tap the Plus Icon button and add the numbers you want blocked

  1. from the standby screen, press the Left Soft Key (Menu) Icon > open up your Contacts Icon > Contact List

  2. Scroll through the contact list or use the the Search contacts box and enter the first letter(s) of the contact you want to call.

  3. In the list that is displayed, select the contact you want to call.

  4. Press the Send Key Icon

  5. To end the call press the End/Power Key Icon

  • Make a Second Call

    1. During a call, press the Left Soft Key (Options) Icon > Contacts Icon .

    2. Highlight the contact, then press the Send Key Icon to make a second call.

    Swapping Between Two Calls

    1. Press the Send Key Icon

    2. Press the Left Soft Key (Options) Icon and then select Swap Calls

    3. Press the up or down Navigation Keys to select a call.

    Answering an Incoming Call

    • To answer an incoming call when the phone is ringing, simply press the Send Key Icon

    • Note: The phone is also able to warn you of an incoming call while you are already on a call. A tone sounds in the earpiece and the display will show that a second call is waiting. This feature, known as Call Waiting, is only available if your network supports it.

    • If Call Waiting is turned on, you can put the first call on hold and answer the second call by pressing the Send Key Icon

    Rejecting an Incoming Call

    • You can reject an incoming call without answering by simply pressing the End/Power Key Icon or the Right Soft Key

    Muting the Microphone

    • You can mute the microphone during a call by pressing the Right Soft Key (Mute) Icon

    • The phone can be unmuted by pressing the Right Soft Key (Unmute) Icon

    • Note: When the phone is muted, the caller cannot hear you, but you can still hear the caller.

    Using the Speakerphone

    • You can use the integrated Speakerphone during a call by pressing the OK Key (Spk. On)

    • Note: The loudspeaker is automatically deactivated when you end the call.

Typically calling problems are network related. Please check the following things:

  1. Ensure there are not any network outages that could causing service interruptions in your area.

  2. Check that your phone is currently activated by a service provider.

  3. Remove the battery while the phone is on (if applicable). Turn the device back on, and see if the device will connect to the network.

  4. Check if the phone is in Airplane Mode.
