Tethering & networks allows you to configure mobile networks, tethering, and VPNs (Basic VPN, LG VPN).

Setup USB Tethering

You can use your phone to provide a data connection to a computer by activating data tethering and connecting them with a USB cable.

Note: You cannot access your phone's memory on your computer when using USB tethering. Performance may vary depending on the number of devices connected and other factors.

To Setup USB Tethering

  1. Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable.

  2. From the Home screen, tap Apps App Drawer Icon> Settings Settings Icon> More... > Mobile Broadband Connect.

  3. Tap the USB tethering switch Switch Slider IconON and tap OK to confirm.

Note: Data Tethering requires an appropriate DataPro data plan. Devices connected by tethering use data from your DataPro plan. Plans are not unlimited and significant charges may be incurred if the included data allowance is exceeded. Performance may vary depending on the number of devices connected and other factors.

Setup Mobile Hotspot

You can share your phone's data connection with up to eight phones at once by turning your phone into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps App Drawer Icon> Settings Settings Icon> More... > Mobile Hotspot.

  2. Tap the Mobile hotspot switch Switch Slider Icon to activate the feature.

  3. Enter a password of your choice and tap Enable. After a moment, the phone starts broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name (SSID), so you can connect it with up to eight (8) computers or other phones.

To Change Mobile Hotspot Settings:

  1. Tap Mobile Hotspot.

  2. Tap Set Up.

  3. In the dialogue box that opens, configure the options:

  • Network name (SSID) - You can change the SSID, which is the name you will see when scanning for a Wi-Fi network to connect to.
  • Security type - Tap the drop down and select from Open, WPA PSK, or WPA2 PSK.
  • Password - The field is visible when a password is required. Enter a password. You will enter this password on any device that connects to your hotspot.
  • Max users - Tap drop down and select the number of device connections, up to 8 maximum.
  • Broadcast channel - Checkmark Checkmark Icon the channel frequency you want to broadcast in.
  1. Tap Save.

Note: Mobile hotspot requires an appropriate data plan. Devices connected to your Mobile Hotspot use data from your data plan. Plans are not unlimited and significant charges may be incurred if the included data allowance is exceeded. Performance may vary depending on the number of devices connected and other factors. If you do not use a password, others will be able to use your Mobile Hotspot connection.

Setup Bluetooth Tethering

Bluetooth tethering allows you to connect other devices to your phone via Bluetooth.

To share your connection via Bluetooth tethering:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps App Drawer Icon> Settings Settings Icon> More... > Bluetooth tethering.

  2. Tap the Bluetooth tethering switch Switch Slider Icon to turn the function on.

Note: Bluetooth tethering can be activated only when your smartphone is connected to the Verizon network.

Setup Mobile Networks

You can set whether to enable or disable data access on your phone.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps App Drawer Icon> Settings Settings Icon> More... > Mobile networks.

  2. Place a checkmark Checkmark Icon to enable or tap the name to change setting selection.

  • Mobile data - Select whether to enable or disable data access over your mobile network.
  • Global data roaming access - Sets up your data services while roaming. Choose from Deny data roaming access, Allow access only for this trip, and Allow access for all trips
  • Network type and strength - Displays the current network type and the signal strength. 
  • Access point names - You can select the access point name, add a new APN, or reset to default.
  • Roaming state - Displays your current roaming state.
Setup VPN

From your phone, you can add, set up, and manage virtual private networks (VPNs) that allow you to connect and access resources inside a secured local network, such as your corporate network.

Depending on the type of VPN you are using at work, you may be required to enter your login credentials or install security certificates before you can connect to your company's local network. You can get this information from your network administrator. Before you can initiate a VPN connection, you must set the screen lock option (Pattern, PIN, or Password only).

Basic VPN

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps App Drawer Icon> Settings Settings Icon> More... > VPN

  2. Tap Basic VPN > Add Basic VPN profile.

Note: You must change your screen lock before you use credential storage. You can set a pattern, PIN, or password.

  1. Enter the VPN network according to the security details you have obtained from your network administrator.

  2. When finished, tap Save.

LG VPN

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps App Drawer Icon> Settings Settings Icon> More... > VPN

  2. Tap LG VPN > Add LG VPN network.

Note: You must set the local key store password before you use LG VPN credential storage.

  1. Enter the VPN network according to the security details you have obtained from your network administrator.

  2. When finished, tap Save.
