Rated 1 out of 5 by from Circuit Board Failed 2 Months After Delivery When this washer worked, it was great. I purchased this washer in Nov 2016. In January 2017, two months after delivery the keypad began randomly blinking and locked. The washer was totally inoperative. I performed the troubleshooting and followed the LG reset procedure. This procedure is to turn off the breaker (or unplug the washer), hold the on/off button for 10 seconds, then turn on the breaker (or plug the washer back in). After doing the LG reset procedure, it worked normally for about 2 weeks. Then it did the same thing again. The washer worked normally after one reset. Then it did the same thing again about one week after that. Reset worked, but since I had purchased the service plan via Lowe's, I called Lowe's. The earliest technician appointment was 10 days after that initial call. During the 10 days the problems with the washer continued to escalate, random blinking and beeping, and a locked keypad. Multiple resets were required to get the washer to work. It went to a daily occurrence and then every load. Finally the day prior to the scheduled service appointment, the washer totally failed. No lights, nothing. Reset 6-10 times with no effect. Tested outlet, it was fine. Switched to a different outlet, washer still totally inoperative. Plugged another appliance into the outlet the washer had been in, that appliance worked fine, so there's nothing wrong with the outlet. It's the washer. This morning the technician called before coming out to the scheduled appointment and told me the circuit boards and keypads are backordered and he doesn't know if it will be days, weeks, or months before they come in. He also said even after the board and keypad come in, it will be at least a week before he can come out to install them. This is unacceptable! This washer is less than 4 months old! It seems LG didn't accurately anticipate the demand for circuit boards and keypads for this washer and didn't manufacture enough spares. Whether that's because they anticipated a lower failure rate, or there's a supplier issue, I don't know and it's should be available in a reasonable amount of time. I don't consider this reasonable...I waited 10 days for the service appointment to be told there is an indefinite backorder, and another week after that for installation. It's going to take a lot for me to ever purchase another LG product again, of any type.

I just got one of these washing machines and the sidekick pedestal delivered yesterday along with the matching dryer. Just wondering if there was supposed to be a laundry detergent sample pack included with the washing machines? Last machine I bought did.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. It is recommended to check the drain hose for any obstructions that might produce such a smell. It is also suggested to run the TUB CLEAN cycle using about a cup of vinegar, which can break down any soap residue which might be generating this smell. There was a problem with this style washer not being compatible with iOS. Has that been remedied?

The issue with the LG 4.5 cu.ft. Ultra Large Capacity w/ On-Door Control Panel & TurboWash®, Model # WM5005HKA not being compatible with iOS was about the LG Smart Laundry & DW app for the SmartDiagnosis™ (v. 3.0) feature that you can download from the iTunes Store for iOS devices. Although the App (Version 2.1.0) is available in the iTunes Store, the issue is that it requires NFC for it to work. Apple added NFC hardware to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to support the Apple Pay mobile payment system in the fall of 2014 . But that was the only thing the iPhone could do with NFC. Apple didn’t open up SDK access to the NFC controller for other developers, so the NFC hardware inside the phone was severely limited to the types of applications it could be used for and it cannot use the other tag technologies that include printed barcodes and QR codes, Bluetooth based tags such as Apple’s iBeacon and BLE, UHF RFID and a handful of other lesser known technologies...IFV

The. Letters CL keep flashing on the time remaining light

The CL indicator is shown when the CHILD LOCK feature is active, as is shown on page 30 of the owner’s manual. Press and hold the PREWASH button for 3 seconds in order to deactivate this option.
