LG ELECTRONICS EXPANDS 'TROMM' LINE&LITERALLY&OFFERING MORE SPACE-SAVING DESIGNS IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM
LG Innovations Offer Extra Large Capacity,
'Switchable' Front Panels for Easy Stacking and Accessibility
CHICAGO, April 21, 2006 - LG Electronics is helping consumers redesign the look and versatility of their laundry rooms with a unique stacking technology driving the latest trends in washer and dryer systems. On display here at the 2006 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (Booth #7516, North Hall), LG's roster of laundry products includes the innovative Tromm Convertible Control System - an industry first that allows consumers to stack the units and select the placement of the control panel. Also on display will be the popular LG Wash & Dry Combo and the unique LG SteamWasherTM with remote monitoring capability.
"We continually strive to update our laundry products with features and options that enhance consumers' everyday lives by providing high-performance laundry systems without compromising style and valuable storage space in the home," said Soon Kwon, president of Digital Appliances for LG Electronics USA, Inc. "New additions, including our new Tromm Convertible Control System with 'movable' panels, allow consumers to arrange their appliances to work within their laundry room space - and not the other way around."
LG has expanded its popular front-loading laundry system to offer consumers more options to ensure they get the laundry product to best suit their needs. These units can be placed side-by-side or stacked to save space. The stackable units are now available with a control panel location choice of either the top or the bottom of the dryer unit, ensuring that they are always within easy reach - ideal for the short and tall alike.
The LG Tromm Convertible Control System measures in at 4.0-cubic feet for the washer and 7.3-cubic feet for the dryer, making it the one of the largest capacity stackable systems available on the market. The unit is also equipped with noise-reducing Direct DriveTM, a belt-less system that delivers power directly from the motor to the drum. This system brings consumers the benefits of reduced noise and increased energy savings. The system also boasts a Delay Wash function, giving consumers the option to program the machine to complete their wash up to 12 hours after it has been loaded.
The washer/dryer pair also features LG's SenseCleanTM system, an intelligent fabric care cleaning and drying technology. This enables the machines to actually 'sense' the weight of the load to measure moisture with dual humidity sensors, and then automatically adjust the water level or dryer heat to optimize machine time and reduce shrinking and pilling. The LG laundry system sports a porcelain top and sleek, stylish design, also features up to nine cycles for dryer and up to seven cycles for washer. It also has a child-lock system to prevent children from pressing buttons and changing the program during operation. The manufacturer's suggested retail price ranges from $1,199 to $1,299 for the washer, and $999 to $1,099 for the dryer.
Additionally, the Tromm Convertible Control System line can work with the award-winning LG Remote Monitoring System. The system allows consumers to monitor cycle progress while they focus on other activities around the home. With a quick glance at the remote monitor, users can see the progress and remaining time on the washing and drying cycles. This system, which utilizes Power Line Communication (PLC) technology, is easy to use and works by simply plugging the monitor into any electrical outlet within the home.
LG Wash & Dry Combo
This cutting-edge, dual-function appliance continues to wow consumers with its innovative design that combines a washer and dryer in one compact unit and easily
programs washing and drying cycles based on specific fabric type and weight of clothing. In addition to the unique space-saving design and optimum fabric care capabilities, the unit's large washing capacity allows for easy care and handling of bulky items like curtains and blankets, and the generous size causes less wrinkling. The LG Wash & Dry Combo is easily programmed so consumers can load the machine, start the cycle and return to clothing that has been washed and dried in one easy step.
The LG Wash & Dry Combo also utilizes the Direct Drive System to deliver power to the drum with the motor attached to its center improving vibration levels dramatically - minimizing noise range, smoothing out sound and helping to prevent 'wear and tear' on the unit. In addition, the unit's intelligent washing system, which automatically sets the optimal water level, is another efficient use of energy. The LG Wash & Dry Combo (3.72 cu. ft. IEC) with SenseClean (model WM3677HW) is available at a manufacturer's suggested retail price ranging from $1,699 to $1,799 in a white finish. The company also offers a smaller capacity Wash & Dry Combo unit (model WD3431) at a manufacturer's suggested retail price ranging from $1,399 to $1,499 in a white or titanium finish.
