New Environmentally Friendly Unit Cuts Costs Without Sacrificing Space

LAS VEGAS, NV (January', 2004) -- According to a recent survey, the average American household spends about $1,400 per year on energy bills and about $100 of that money is spent on the refrigerator alone . Today LG Electronics is proud to help consumers put a dent in their energy bill with the new LG Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Linear Compressor. The groundbreaking Linear Compressor Technology is so much more efficient than traditional cooling technologies that LG predicts it will have the lowest level of energy consumption of any side-by-side refrigerator on the market. It boasts the world's best Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of 7.2.

Revolutionary Cooling Technology
LG's Linear Technology uses linear compressors to provide more energy efficient cooling. Instead of the typical reciprocating compressor found in most refrigerators, the linear compressor does not require a crank mechanism to change the rotary motion into a reciprocating motion. This significantly reduces the compressor's energy loss and improves the motor efficiency. In addition to the energy saving benefits, the Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Linear Compressor has no joints, which reduces the unit's noise with its Soft Start, Soft Stop System.

"Many consumers want larger refrigerators, but are concerned about having high energy bills," said Simon Kang, President, Home Appliance Division, LG Electronics U.S.A. Inc. "LG's cutting-edge Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Linear Compressor offers the best of both worlds by providing ample space while conserving energy and cutting costs."

The Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Linear Compressor also boasts a 26 cubic foot capacity. Now, consumers can have the convenience of a large refrigeration unit without a high energy bill. The Side-by-Side's digital control panel also provides consumers with the unit's freezer, refrigerator and room temperatures, allowing them to make any necessary adjustments.

In addition to the revolutionary linear technology, the LG Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Linear Compressor offers all the convenient features of the 26 cubic foot Side-by-Side Refrigerator, including:

Icebeam Cooling

Stainless steel Finish

OptiChill drawer with four-step temperature control

Jet Freezing drawer

Digital LCD display

Built-in look with hidden hinges and contoured door design

BioShield Anti-Bacteria Gasket

Icy Water Reservoir

CustomCube Ice Maker

Grab n' Go door basket, wine rack, pizza nook, tilting door bins, glass and sliding shelves

The LG Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Linear Compressor, model number LRSC26954ST will be available in April 2004 at the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $2,299.
