New Director Jonathan Maron Brings Twenty Years fo Wireless Experience to LGs Rapidly Growing Mobile Phones Business

SAN DIEGO  June 21, 2004 -- LG Mobile Phones, the mobile handset division of LG Electronics USA, Inc., has tapped Jonathan Maron, formerly of Sony Ericsson, as its new director of marketing communications. In his new position, Maron will oversee all corporate and product communications for LG Mobile Phones, develop brand marketing strategy and management, direct co-branded marketing communications programs with carriers and define and execute tactical marketing communications strategy.

Jonathan Maron brings years of extraordinarily valuable wireless marketing, sales and management experience to LG, said Juno Cho, president, LG InfoComm U.S.A. Consumer awareness of the LG brand continues to grow at an exponential rate, and we now look to Mr. Maron to build upon LGs victories in the handset market as we embark on new branding campaigns and continue to educate and entertain consumers with the notion that LG makes Life Good.

In addition to his strategic planning and marketing communications development responsibilities, Maron will also oversee branding, advertising, PR and all trade activities. Core marketing activities like product launches, marketing messaging and press and analyst relations will also fall under Marons new role, as well as the responsibility to represent LG Mobile Phones to the press and public by acting as chief corporate spokesperson.

Prior to joining LG, Maron was the director of marketing communications for Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, and, before the companys merger with Sony Corporation in 2001, served as a regional sales manager for Ericsson Mobile Phones, later transitioning into a marketing manager role. Prior to his work with Ericsson, Maron served as national marketing manager and then East coast regional manager at Mitsubishi Wireless. Maron began his career at Sound Interiors, overseeing all aspects of sales, new business development and management for the company he founded.

Maron joins LG after a year in which LG Mobile Phones share of the mobile handset market steadily increased, culminating in LG grabbing the top domestic CDMA manufacturer spot for the year 2003, according to market research from Strategy Analytics.

With the U.S. handset market becoming more crowded and competitive by the day, it is imperative to build strong brands and customer loyalty, said Maron. In light of the innovative and stylish products LG consistently introduces, Im confident well rise to the challenge. Joining LG presents a unique opportunity to work with a respected international and domestic brand and a talented marketing and communications team; I look forward to building on past accomplishments and moving forward into a successful future.
