LG Mobile CEO announces Vision on 3G in keynote session
LG Electronics (LG), a pioneer in consumer electronics and telecommunications, shared its vision on the evolution of mobile phones at the 3GSM World Congress 2006.
Mr. M.H. Park, President & CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, led a keynote session titled 'The Evolution of 3G, Where Do We Go Next?' on February 16. In his address, Mr Park profiled rapidly evolving mobile technologies such as 3G, HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) and mobile TV. He also shared his predictions for the future of the mobile industry while highlighting LG's capability and leadership in the field. Rather than a speech, the keynote session was conducted in the form of in-depth one-on-one interview with the host.
"The two keywords of today's mobile industry are convergence and divergence. While the recent spotlight may be on convergence, divergence will also allow handsets to evolve in yet another direction. A good example is the music phone, which has a large internal memory and equalizer functions specifically for music playback," Mr. Park said.
"Mobile handsets that remain true to their basic functions yet focus on a particular feature are being extremely well-received. From a business standpoint, securing the right solution, partnership building and seasoned communications with customers are as crucial as having the capability to develop 3G handsets."
The 3GSM World Congress is the world's leading mobile communications conference & exhibition that attracts GSM providers and manufacturers from across the globe. Leading multinational companies, including LG, Intel, IBM, HP, Qualcomm and NTT Docomo, were represented at this year's event which was held from February 13 to 16.
