Rated 3 out of 5 by from Failed after 16 months; second LG AC to fail Bought this to replace the 2013 model which failed after less than a year. This worked fine last summer and was working great this summer until it started to retain and then leak water. The Water Full indicator never flashed and the unit was happy to flood my apartment more than once. LG support was really good and, despite being out of warranty, gave me a reference number to replace the unit. Third time had better be the charm, because 2 defective LG AC's in two years is a bit much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't complain I have been using this device to dehumidify and cool my home for a few months. Product works well. It's not too loud. I wish it had a built in water bucket, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cooling at low energy outputs. We used to never need an air conditioner in Washington. But this year, we buckled under the higher than usual temperatures. The new A/c owrks very well. There is a dry setting and we never need to empty any water. The only negative at all is the exhaust hose design which is very wide and bulky. However, the positive of that system is that the tubing is very sturdy and long enough to allow the exhaust to be mounted high up in a window. So, it worked perfectly in our bedroom window and it has an adequate length to make it adaptable for other places in the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, easy to install, does the job This product was easy to install. Cools our bedroom to 69 degrees. Shuts itself off when temperature is reached.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So much easier to setup & use As being in the late 60s this unit is a lot easier to insall than a heavey window unit. At the end of the season just disconnect & roll to a spare room NO lifting. Disconnecting the exaust vent from the unit & window is so easy. Works great, but is a little bite noisy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decent Air Conditioner but HORRIBLE exhaust design We purchased this product to cool the large family room in the addition of our recently purchased home, as the central HVAC doesn't quite cool the addition adequately. It is rather loud when the compressor kicks on, but overall, cools the large room extremely well. The exhaust design is HORRIBLE! There are four tiny tabs on the exhaust flange that is SUPPOSED to hold it in the window and there is NO WAY these four small tabs that are designed to be inserted, then slide over to lock, will EVER hold. When you insert the tabs, it literally slides less than a half inch to supposedly 'lock' it into place, and I have walked into the room and found the exhaust, laying on the floor blowing hot air into the room, after it dislodged and fell out of the window more times than I can count. I would have returned it, but I too threw away the box way too soon ... I'll stick with a window unit in the future ... and it WON'T be an LG product.

What would be the average air temperature of the exhaust? Am I able to use a dryer vent exhaust hose rated for up to 185 degrees?

Asked by: Exhausttempguy
Regrettably, there is no way of knowing what the average temperature of the air that is expelled through the exhaust for the LG 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP1214GXR without actually measuring the temperature over a given period of time then averaging it out. The temperature will vary from one day to another based on several external factors such as the surrounding temperature in the room that the air conditioner is installed in, the relative humidity on any given day, how you use the unit and how long you run it on any given day that will affect it. This unit is designed to be vented through an appropriate type of window and comes with a window installation kit that allows for that...^IFV

What is the vent diameter?

Asked by: BearrRandy
The exhaust hose for the LG 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP1214GXR has a diameter of 5 inches, however, the end that attaches to the window vent panel has an oval shaped diffuser on it that makes it a lot wider than 5 inches...^IFV

I just purchased this unit and it's due to arrive Saturday, but I need a piece of plywood cut for installation but it has to b tom. I need to know what the *measurements* are for the window kit and is the length *adjustable* to fit different window sizes?

Asked by: KrissyB
We appreciate your interest in this portable air conditioner. The window installation kit has the actual vent panel, along with 3 adjustable panels. These can all be placed horizontally for a standard, vertically opening window, or they can be placed vertically for a window that slides horizontally.

Where is the thermostat located in the lp1214gxr 12000 BTU unit is there a diagram or could someone tell me

We appreciate your interest in this portable air conditioner. The thermistors used on these devices are typically attached to the cooling coils, inside the cabinet. This is component that is not to be accessed except by a qualified service technician.

When set on cool mode at 60º F, my unit only blows cold air for 10 seconds then blows warm air for 10 minutes. The unit also does not produce any water. The filter and coils are clean and the room is small. Any ideas about what the issue could be?

Asked by: AME06
We appreciate your interest in this portable air conditioner. The description of this manner of operation, for a 12,000 BTU A/C in a small room, suggests that this machine may be over-powered for this room. Such a machine is recommended for a 400 sq.ft. room.
