Rated 5 out of 5 by from An outstanding Product for the Price Purchased this to heat and cool an outside deck that we converted to an enclosed type cottage. Winter has set in and we were able to get everything done except insulation. Recently temps fell to 14 degrees in the Smokey Mountains and this unit was able to take an 18 x 16' room, with an open attic, and within 30 minutes raise the temp from 20 degrees to near 40. After another 30-45 minutes and with some assistance from a small floor unit, because of the extremely windy conditions, the room was near 60 degrees and very tolerable. The unit is quiet, considering the amount of air is blows. The remote control feature works clear across the room. If I could find one bad thing to say, and it's not really bad, that's that I wish the I could program the heat to come on at a certain time, like I can the A/C. It was easy to install and came with everything I needed. A superior product and worth the accolades! Keep it up LG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product performs well and has good features Previous LG a/c unit was 9 years and 4 months old. Replaced it with another LG unit that is a heat / cool all in one. The a/c works excellent. Soon I will test out the heater. Very happy with LG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Produce I purchased this A/C to go in my garage. In the past, I had to use a 5000 btu window A/C unit in my shop to help cool my garage. In the winter, I had to use 3 portable heaters in the shop and garage. With this unit, I not only get the A/C I want but a bonus of heat along with it. It is a very good looking unit and would look good in any room. The remote control was a surprise and I love it. This unit also has a energy setting that keeps the unit completely off until it is needed. I really like that feature because it is not constantly running and using energy. I would recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for a A/C heat unit for their house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little cooler The ladies in the front office were melting until I got this little guy in their window. It is more potent, quieter and uses less energy than the previous one but because it is more technologically advanced it has all that but in a smaller package allowing me to get a higher BTU unit. Thank you LG. Thanks to you the ladies can work in a more comfortable office..... and wear their parkas in June. Now if only you guys sold vacations, the business world would be a better place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with purchase This product works well and has nice features (the remote is a plus). The only downside is that it uses a lot of electricity and my bill has gone up noticeably since it was installed. However, I do live in Phoenix so it's difficult to know how much of the increased electric bill is due to the unit and how much is due to high temperatures.

Can I mount this to exhaust into my workshop? How many cubic feet of space is required for the unit to operate?

I am mounting this in a wall between my workshop and an office area i am building. My workshop is approximately 2500 square feet and is ventilated with louvers on 2 ends of the shop. is there a formula i can use to determine how big a unit i can install?
Asked by: Denton
It is always recommended to have a window air conditioner vented directly outdoors, as the exhaust is hot, moist air which could make the occupation of such a workshop hazardous.

heater functioning

Does the heater turn on and off by the thermostat? When I activated the heater, the unit continued to operate for over 8 hours with no heat coming out --- it actually cooled the room down instead of heating it up!
Asked by: MoodyElric
It should NOT blow cold air all the time. If you turn the thermostat up to it's highest temp the unit should blow hot until the temp in the surrounding area is reached or the heat pump needs to recycle and then it will blow cool air for a short period and then go back to heating I found that running it in E-Saver while heating was not a good thing as when the heating portion stopped it just blew cold air and did not shut down as I though it would. The instruction book is quite detailed and warrants careful reading...I had to read through it twice.

How long should the compresser stay on?

My husband and I just installed this unit (he is a handyman). It blows fine but the compressor only stays on for about 30 seconds and turns of, then after about 1 minute it comes back on for another 30 seconds. Is this whats its supposed to do? All of out other units do not do this.
Asked by: Casey205
It depends on your settings but based on what your saying I would say that the unit needs Freon or Oil and thus the compressor is cycling on and off. It needs to be checked out or returned to the store! It's definitely NOT normal operation.

Is an outside cover available for this model?

LW1214HR LG - the size of covers I have found online do not fit the dimensions of this model. Any ideas on where to find an outside cover to fit the dimensions for this model?
Asked by: tinker8629
Are you looking for a cover to protect the unit when you're not using it? It comes with a case/cover that it slides into when you mount it. If I were going to cover it for preservation I would get some 2 mil plastic and duct tape it around the unit and seal it up.
