What people are saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 6 Years We had this microwave for 6 years when it quit. Just my husband and I at home. I can't image if we had a bigger family that it wouldn't even have lasted that long. Handle had broke year before-we had managed to fix that. Not sure if I'd trust LG again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very disappointed!! Had this unit for 4 years, and of course it quit working over the Thanksgiving holiday.Called 2 repair places and both said it was too expensive to fix. Magnetron and rotating turntable just stopped. So unhappy and will not buy another LG product. Paying as much as we did, 4 years is totally unacceptable!!! DO NOY BUY!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The product has many options for microwaving! The unit is very nice looking and has many options for cooking, warming and defrosting. The programs installed pretty much take the guess work out of the timing. I am very much satisfied and my guests have remarked, the LG unit would be their next microwave purchased in the very near future. The price, installation, appeal and ease of useage has been far more than expected. Very satisfied!!!!!

The handles always break. Seems to me the most used piece (for opening) would be the strongest. Since it is made of plastic it breaks. Common sense builders use something stronger. Fix on my own or hire someone? Where to find the part?

Accessories can be obtained through our parts distributor, MCM Electronics. Their contact number, for placing orders, is 800-824-9491. You can also use their website, at http://www.mcmelectronics.com/content/en-US/forms/lg_parts. The part number for this handle is MEB41908101.

Can the vent fan be run indepently of the microwave itself?

Does the vent fan only run when the microwave is running?
Asked by: OhioJoe1962
The exhaust fan can be run independently of the microwave. There is a setting on the control panel for the exhaust with high, low, and turbo. I exhausted mine outside and am pleased with its operation. I recommend exhausting it outside.

Can the vent on this microwave be connected to the exterior, through an exterior wall to which the microwave is attached?

The vent on this microwave can be set up to exhaust to the outdoors or to the interior of the home, correct? I need the unit to exhaust to the exterior, through the wall to which the microwave is attached. Can this be done? Can you send me installation instructions? I do not see them available on your website.
Asked by: Wallace
Yes it can either exhaust from the top or the back. I exhausted mine through the top, but there is an option to do it from the back. the fan can be rotated to accommodate the different positions. I am very pleased with the exhaust performance.

17 inch clearance

When this OTR microwave is installed I only have 17 inches from the bottom of the oven to the top of my electric cooktop. Can I still install it without damage to the microwave? If not do you have any other models that might work?
Asked by: JBDEEZ
We appreciate your interest in this microwave oven and its proper installation. The gap between the bottom of the cabinet above the microwave, and the cooktop surface, should be a minimum of 30”. With a product cabinet height of 16 3/4”, this leaves a requirement of 13 1/4" between the microwave and the cooktop. If you have 17” between the microwave and the cooking surface, this should be more than enough clearance.

can the timer be used at the same time the microwave is cooking?
Asked by: Linny
I apologize, but no; the timer and cook modes of this unit both use the same display and timing operations. As such, only one may operate at any given time.
