Clothes are Wrinkled

  • Troubleshooting

CLOTHES ARE WRINKLED

In most cases, wrinkling issues can easily be resolved. Most instances of clothing coming out of your washer wrinkled are the result of one or more of the following:

Inlet Hose Connections

Load Size

Clothing Left in the Drum

Excessive Suds

Too Much Softener

Clothes Line or Air Dried

Inlet Hose Connections

It is important that the inlet hoses on the back of your washer are connected properly. Make sure that the hot and cold hoses are connected to the respective inlet valves on the back of your washer. If these hoses are reversed, the rinse temperature will be hot and this will set wrinkles in the clothing.

Load Size

If the drum is overloaded, the clothing can come out wrinkled due to improper tumbling. This will also prevent the clothing from washing and rinsing properly as well. As you move items to the dryer, shake out the clothing well to help reduce wrinkles in the clothing.

Clothing Left in the Drum

Do not let clothing remain in the drum of the washer too long before removing the items to dry. Some wrinkles are caused due to high spin speeds as the clothing is forced against the drum. However, if the clothing items are left in the machine too long, the wrinkles from the spin cycle will be set into the fabric. As you load the dryer, be sure to shake the clothing items out well.

Excessive Suds

Too much detergent usage will leave residue in the clothing, which can cause wrinkles. Only use HE detergent, and if there are excess suds, reduce the amount of detergent you use on the next cycle. By doing so, the washer will be able to rinse the detergent out completely and there is no residue to weigh down the clothing helping to cause wrinkles.

Too Much Softener

If too much fabric softener is being used, it will leave residue in the clothing which will weigh them down and cause wrinkles. Dilute thicker fabric softeners half and half with water so that they will dispense properly.

Clothes Line or Air Dried

The air movement and tumbling action of a dryer helps to fluff the clothing as it dries, which helps to reduce wrinkles. However, line and air drying does not offer this benefit. Be sure to shake the clothes out well as you remove them from the washer.
