Device Has No Audio - DAV

The absence of audio coming from your sound system can be frustrating, but the steps below will help to find and resolve the issue.


Note: If the system does not power on, refer to Device Has No Power.

Note: If the system speakers play sound, but your wireless subwoofer does not, refer to Connecting Your Wireless Subwoofer.

  1. What type of system has no audio?


    1. Is the volume level above 10? (can be difficult to hear below this level) Yes No
    2. Press the VOL + button on your remote until the volume level is greater than 10.

    3. Are you using Private Sound Mode? Yes No What is this?
    4. Private Sound mode will only play through the mobile device it is enabled on, and not through the sound system.

      • Disable Private Sound mode.
      • If you intend to use Private Sound mode, but are not getting sound through your mobile device.
        • Restart your wireless router (unplug it, then plug it back in).
        • If the issue persists, disable Private Sound mode to check if the audio system functions normally in other modes.
        • If the sound system functions in other modes, contact your mobile device's manufacturer for assistance.
        • If the unit does not play sound in other modes, keep Private Sound mode disabled and change your answer above to NO.
    5. Private Sound mode is available on select devices and requires the LG AV Remote App. This mode allows you to play your sound system's audio through your mobile device (similar to wireless headphones).
    6. Is the media you are listening to in Scan, Slow Motion, or Pause mode? Yes No What is this?
    7. Change the mode to normal playback.

    8. Scan, Slow Motion, and Pause are special playback modes in which the media plays back in specific ways. If your video or sound file is playing normally (except for the sound), you are not in one of these modes.

    9. Are the audio wires properly connected? (if playing from an external source)
       Yes No
    10. Connect the audio wires according to the image above.

    11. Do you have the sound system set to the proper input/function? Yes No What is this?
    12. Set the input on the audio device correctly (make sure the input shown on the system's display matches the input label where the wire is plugged in).

    13. Most sound systems are capable of playing back media from several sources, but can only do so from one source at a time. Press the Input or Function button on your remote to cycle through these sources.

    14. With everything above set properly, there are no more troubleshooting steps for the sound system.

      • Check the TV's output mode to ensure the internal speakers are set to OFF and that the Sound Out mode is set to the type of connection you are using.

  2. No Audio Troubleshooting (Home Theater)

    1. Is the volume level above 10? (can be difficult to hear below this level) Yes No

    15. Wired Speakers:
      1. Connect speaker cords to the player. Each speaker connector is color-coded. Use matching color connector for corresponding speakers. When connecting speaker cords to the player, insert the connector until it clicks.
      2. Connect the speaker cord to the connector on the speaker.

      Wireless Speakers:
      1. Connect the rear speakers to the wireless receiver with the speaker cords.
        Use matching color label for corresponding speakers. When connecting speaker cords to the wireless receiver, insert the connector until it clicks.
      2. Insert the Wireless TX till the marked line into the WIRELESS connector on the rear of the unit.
      3. Connect the power cord of the wireless receiver to the outlet.
      4. When you turn on the player, the wireless speakers connection will be completed automatically.
    16. With everything above set properly, there are no more troubleshooting steps for the sound system.
