At a Glance
While LG dishwashers are designed to operate quietly, different noises can occur periodically while the unit is in operation.
While some noises can be concerning, most are considered part of normal operation.
Try this
1. Whistling Sound
When water is drawn into the dishwasher, a whistling noise can be heard. This is normal.
If the water pressure is too high, the noise will be louder so it may be necessary to adjust the water valve to lower the pressure.
2. Rattling Noise
Rattling noises can be caused by improperly loaded dishes or a loose or clogged filter.
Reorganize the dishes in the racks so they are loaded securely. For light plastic plates, leave enough space between them.
Make sure utensils do not stick out of the rack as they can hit the spray nozzles or other dishes while a cycle is running.
If the drain filter is clogged or has not been inserted properly, it can rattle or shake during the cycle.
If the filter is dirty or clogged, clean it and reinsert the filter securely and try again.
3. Buzzing
This sound occurs when the drain pump motor is operating to drain water.
When you start the dishwasher, the drain pump begins to operate, producing a buzzing noise.
This noise will cease once the draining process is complete.
4. Beeping Noise
This is an alarm warning the user that the tub is hot.
After opening the door, the high temperature alarm will sound immediately following a steam, heated wash, rinse, or dry cycle.
5. Growling (Air Sucking Noise)
This can be caused if too much detergent is being used or food waste and residue clog the drain pipe.
If you hear a loud gulping sound or notice that the sink drains water slower than usual, clean the drainpipe with a specialized tool or cleaner.
If you notice excessive noise or sounds that are different from what you typically hear,
your unit needs inspection. Please request service.
