LG Tone FP Series Earbuds FAQs

Compatibility:

  • Yes. Tone Free FP earbuds are compatible with iOS and Android devices. Tone Free app supports IOS 11.0 or higher version as well as Android 5.0 or higher version.

  • Yes. Tone Free FP earbuds are compatible with Galaxy devices that are operating under Android OS. Tone Free app supports Android 5.0 or higher version.

  • Yes, you can connect to TV via bluetooth.

    1. Turn on the Bluetooth function on the mobile phone or the deviceto be connected.

    2. Open the cover of the charging case with the earbuds mounted on the case. Press and hold the touchpad of the left or right earbud for 3 to5 seconds until the battery status indicator blinks in blue.

    3. When the Fast Pair connection pop-up appearson the top area of the mobile phone screen, tap it to connect. (It only supports Android™6.0 or higher, and requires configuring Bluetooth and locationinformation settings of the mobile device.)

    You can also use the Plug & Wireless feature of FP9 to connect to your TV via 3.5mm audio jack.

  • Yes, it supports Google Assistant, Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa and Samsung Bixby depending on your phone settings. From the Tone Free app, go to Touchpad option to select the voice assistantce that phone supports.

    Voice Assistant compatibility depends on your phone settings and may vary by device. From the Tone Free app, go to the Touchpad option to select the Voice Assistance that is supported by your device.

Multi-pairing:

  • FP9, FP8 and FP5 support multi-paring up to 5 devices.

  • In order to use multi-pairing, you must connect each device separately. Once your earbuds are registered on the devices, you can switch between devices without going through the pairing processes again. Please note that the earbuds can only be connected to one device at a time.

Call and noise-cancellation:

  • Each earbud has three microphones that are designed to deliver clear phone call quality.

  • Yes. You can pick any side and use one earbud for listening music and answering phone calls.

  • You can use either left or right earbud independently, or you can use both earbuds together. Please note that, for the 'Whispering Mode', the left side has to be worn while the right earbud is brought close to your mouth. In the 'Whispering Mode', the mic on the left side will be turned off.

  • LG Tone Free FP series have touch controls that can be customized in the app. The touch control will work even if you use only one earbud.

  • While the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature is turned on, it may be difficult to hear people's voices. Turning on the Ambient Sound mode will allow you to listen to the ambient sound so that you can recognize the surrounding situation.

Usability:

  • Yes. You can enable this feature in the app.

  • LG Tone Free FP series have an IPX4 rating and are resistant to water splashes from any direction. Dry before using. Do not charge while wet. Case has not been tested for IPX4.

  • Do not submerge the LG Tone Free FP series earbuds and case in water.

  • Yes. LG Tone Free FP series provide touch controls for controlloing volume, changing tracks, as well as answering phone calls. You can customize the touch controls in the app.

Usability:

    1. Turn on the Bluetooth function on the Android device to be connected.
    2. Open the cover of the charging case with the earbuds mounted on the case. Press and hold the touchpad of the left or right earbud for 3 to 5 seconds until the battery status indicator blinks in blue.
    3. When the Fast Pair connection pop-up appears on the top area of the device, tap it to connect.

    Note: Fast Pair only supports Android™ 6.0 or higher, and requires configuring Bluetooth and location information settings of the mobile device.

    1. Please download the Tone Free App from the App store.
    2. Open the cover of the charging case with the earbuds mounted on the case. Press and hold the touchpad of the left or right earbud for 3 to 5 seconds until the battery status indicator blinks in blue.
    3. Go to settings on your phone, then search for Tone Free earbuds. Refresh the list if it does not show up on the list. Please pair it once you see it.
    4. Press “Allow” when the permission setting pops up. Select “Allow while using the app” and “Pair” when prompted.
  • If you have difficulties in connecting the earbuds to your phone, please try again after resetting. To reset the earbuds, press and hold the touchpad of either left or right earbud for more 10 seconds until the LED turns red and flashes. Make sure both earbuds are inserted into the case.

  • Yes. You may hear the beep sound when the earbuds are worn properly. Also, the app provides a feature for locating the earbus within the close range.

  • 'Game mode' reduces the latencies while playing games or watching movies. Go to "TONE Free LAB" on the app, then turn on 'Game Mode'.

  • It supports widget for Android devices.

    1. You can either check the battery levels in the app, on the widget, or on the charging case.

      The LED on the charging case indicates the battery level while the earbuds are inserted. The LED indicates the battery status of the charging case when the earbuds are not mouted.

      Red LED indicates that the earbuds battery level is lower than 20%. Yellow LED indicates the battery level between 20% and 80%. Green LED indicates that the battery level is 80% or higher.

  • While using the Plug & Wireless feature, you can increase the source volume or the earbud volume by double-tapping the right earbud if the touch control is set to default setting.

  • In the default setting, double-tapping the left earbud decreases the volume. Double-tapping the right earbud increases the volume.
