What People Are Saying

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gamers Beware I loved the TV overall. Image quality is excellent and the speakers were a vast improvement over my previous LG. Sadly, this TV is suffering from burn-in from a game that I only play for 3-4 hours through the week, while playing within the game mode setting. There's no pixel calibration for this model so... Looks like I'm stuck with this burn-in effect whenever it's a predominantly blue or green screen pictured. Sigh. I would still buy this product again just not for gaming. Strictly movies. Also, I'm stationed overseas with the TV. So there's no effective way of getting it fixed until I return to the US. Good times! I am trying to use a product to reduce the burn-in. Ie the picture below.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tv Didn't make it past 2 years This TV was absolutely awesome and I loved it! Whenever we had guest over they always complimented on how amazing the picture looked. The downfall was after 1.5 years the tv started cutting off half the picture and then getting blurry to the point that you couldn't view the imagine. Purchased an extended protection plan through Best Buy but they technicians aren't certified to fix these TV's so was offered a store credit towards purchasing a newer model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture! I love this TV because it is both 4K and 3D. The bezel is only 1/3" so it looks like it's all screen. The Smart TV features are easy to use. "Magic Remote" is voice-controlled and very accurate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent picture Great picture quality with this model. Very happy with its color content. Sound quality is adequate though can be improved on clarity of vocals. Not too wild about remote control. Takes awhile to get used to and sometimes mistake pointer button with entry button. Some blurring with fast motion. But bought set to improve overall picture quality though very happy with my previous plasma and found OLED even more satisfying

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great television; lackluster OS. We are greatly enjoying this television for its 3D/4K, and the blacks made the rendering exveptional. Unfortunately, most of its Smart features are rendered outmoded, by its non-updated OS. Onboard Amazon video and VUDU apps, will not support 4K HDR, despite HDR 10 functionality on the TV; we alternatively run these apps through the X Box One S. Similarly, the WebOS 2.0 Hulu app does not support the expanded Hulu channel base, the same holds true if trying to stream live content from a PLEX-connected device.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The tv is ok, but... This tv is ok, but the calibration process and picture leaves something to be desired. Had a difficult time with the calibration process until I looked it up online...and the picture still isn’t perfect even with the HD 4K player installed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gold standard for flat-panel 3-D LG was among the last of the TV manufacturers to support 3-D, ending with the 2016 models. The 65EF9500 was the 2015 OLED model, and the image is stellar in every respect. Having owned nearly every form of in-home 3-D display I can affirm that nothing tops the deep blacks and high detail that OLED offers, especially in UHD. The passive 3-D screen eliminates crosstalk, and the depth and brightness is maintained across the extremely wide field of view; it doesn't seem to matter where one sits in the room. The WebOS 2.0 interface does a great job with the two big streaming services, Netflix and Amazon Prime. However, there is no support for SlingTV or an integrated channel guide that includes the Channel Store Internet feeds. It would be nice to have a firmware upgrade to WebOS 3.0 that equals what is available on the 2016 models, but that seems unlikely on a 3-year-old TV. With the plethora of streaming devices today fussing about the Smart TV features seems like quibbling. The show's the thing, and nothing beats LG's OLED technology for gorgeous 3-D. IF LG would bring back their passive 3-D tech in their new sets there would be no question of which TV brand I would be buying in future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Neautiful picture and all around great TV! I’ve had my TV for a little over a year now and couldn’t be happier. The picture quality is superb with high contrast and super clear images. 4K looks amazing. I love the remote as well. I highly recommend an LG OLED.

How do I get 5.1 sound from optical out to my dd surround sound speakers.

Asked by: Kevinlewis
We appreciate your interest in this television and its features. According to the operations of this model, the audio settings can be performed through the SOUND menu. Select the SOUND OUT option, and set the AUDIO OUT to configure the Optical connection. If this does not resolve the matter, then a local technician may need to make an adjustment to the SERVICE menu to activate the AC3 feature, which provides for the Surround Sound configurations.

Can the LG 55EF9500 run Wireless Headphones? If so, do they need to be RF, Bluetooth or something else? Any recommended Brands and/or Models of wireless headphones that are proven to work with the LG 55EF9500?

Asked by: WirelessHeadphones
The 55EF9500 connects to bluetooth headsets that support Sound Sync. The HBS-W120's would make a great headset to add to your TV. You can find more information about the headset here: ^CP

I am looking for a wall tv mount that has a 180 degrees turn. What do you recommend?

Asked by: mp_batera
The LG OLED 4K Smart TV - 55" Class (54.6" Diag), Model # 55EF9500 has an unusual A x B x C VESA Wall Mount Pattern of 200 x 330 x 120 (mm) and the LG Wall Mount Bracket, Model # OTW150 was specifically designed to accommodate this particular Wall Mount Pattern. Regrettably, we are not aware of any VESA Compatible Wall Mounts that will accommodate that pattern other than the LG Wall Mount Bracket. Some Wall Mount manufacturers like Sanus, will have a field on their sites that you can enter the TV's model number to find a compatible wall mount for the TV...^IFV

How can I get 5.1 Dolby Digital audio from the Netflix app to the optical audio output? Only getting stereo. If 5.1 is not enabled, it would be great if we could get an update to the Netflix app, WebOS, and or firmware. Thanks!

Asked by: 65EF9500 owner
Audio from internal apps on the LG OLED 4K Smart TV - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # 65EF9500 are played through an external device connected to the digital optical port or the HDMI(ARC) port. To play audio through HDMI(ARC), you will need to enable SIMPLINK. You can configure the Digital Sound Out settings but the settings are available only when an external audio device (digital optical or HDMI ARC)/TV's internal speakers + external audio device (digital optical) is selected. If the Sound Input is Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, or HE-AAC, the digital sound output will also be Dolby Digital. However, if the Sound Input is DTS, DTS Express, MPEG, DTS-HD MA or PCM, then the digital sound output will be PCM...^IFV
