Award Recognizes LG and Ogilvy PR's Superior Achievement in Branding and Reputation (SABRE) in the Corporate Media Relations --- Trade Media Category

NEW YORK, May', 2005 ---LG Electronics and its U.S. agency of record Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide received the highly coveted Gold SABRE Award last night at an awards ceremony in New York City highlighting the best work in the U.S. public relations industry during 2004. More than 1,600 entries competed for the prestigious awards, which were selected by a blue-ribbon panel of judges who are industry-leading professionals and led by Paul Holmes, Editor of the Holmes Report. LG and Ogilvy PR were awarded the top prize in the Corporate Media Relations --- Trade Media category.

"We are honored to receive this award in partnership with Ogilvy PR, because we believe it showcases our commitment to leveraging public relations strategically as we build the LG brand," said Joon Jun, VP of North America Brand Marketing Gr., LG Electronics U.S.A.

In 2004, LG Electronics announced a 360-degree U.S. branding campaign to help accomplish its long-term strategic business objective of becoming a global top-three consumer electronics brand by 2010. With public relations as an integral component of the program, Ogilvy PR was chosen to introduce LG's consumer electronics products in the U.S., and successfully build on the existing brand equity already established in the U.S. with home appliance and mobile communications products. The common point throughout all initiatives has been to focus on how LG's product leadership with technology, design and functionality are incorporated in all corporate communications helping to illustrate "Life's Good," the centerpiece of the advertising campaign.

Sponsored by the Holmes Report, a weekly public relations trade newsletter, the annual SABRE awards recognizes excellent strategic approaches to public relations campaigns and breakthrough thinking and having the ability to come up with innovative and ingenious solutions. The award also honors public relations integrity as well as a program's effectiveness to meet the communication and business goals.

"Our entire team is thrilled to be honored for our outstanding work with LG' one of the world's most fastest growing brands," said Brad Wilks, Managing Director, Ogilvy Public Relations. "This recognition is especially exciting as it underscores the growing importance public relations is playing in driving corporate reputation and business success."

The SABRE Awards (Superior Achievement in Branding and Reputation) were created by Paul Holmes, Editor of the Holmes Report, several years ago to showcase excellence in public relations. Each year, those campaigns that can demonstrate broad-based and tangible results are selected as winners, including programs that help shape public opinion or drive bottom-line success, increase sales, help improve share price or enable a piece of legislation to be passed or defeated. SABRE Award winners also demonstrate meticulous research, intelligent planning, thorough execution and creativity.

"We are committed to build a strong LG brand in the U.S." said John Taylor, vice president of public affairs and communications, LG Electronics U.S.A. "Ogilvy PR's commitment, passion and experience to our company has delivered results that are helping position LG as a leading digital brand in the United States."
