February 25, 2005, Seoul, Korea - LG Electronics (CEO: S. S. Kim / 06657.KS) announced that in celebration of its construction completion of Korea's largest Mobile Handset R&D Center, it will hold LG Mobile Technology Forum on February 25 where a large number of Korea and foreign dignitaries in the information and communication industry will participate.
Attending the forum are some 200 leaders in the information and communications industry from 15 nations. Among participants are Korea's Vice Minister for Information and Communication Roh Jun-hyung, presidents of SK Telecom, KTF as well as MIT Media Lab. Chairman Nicholas Negroponte, UMTS Forum Chairman Jean-Pierre Bienaime, other world-renowned scholars and high-ranking officials from major mobile operators.
In particular, attending the forum are 18 mobile operators from eleven nations such as Hutchison Whampoa, Orange, T-Mobile, China Unicom, Sprint PCS, NTT DoCoMo, Reliance, VIVO, SK Telecom, and KTF. Also attending the event are about ten equipment makers such as Qualcomm, TI, Ericsson, and Toshiba, as well as some 20 scholars and experts.
LG Mobile Technology Forum is prepared as an event to promote partnerships in information and communications and develop mobile technologies. The forum offers three sessions where active discussions will be made about next-generation mobile technologies including 4G, DMB, and WiBro, as well as about the development of technologies across the mobile industry including Korea's IT policies, trend changes in various convergence services, and device and component evolution.
The forum features an opening ceremony and keynote speeches in the morning, and sessions on a wide variety of themes on overall mobile technologies in the afternoon. The forum consists of three sessions such as Mobile Service Trends I. II, and Core Mobile Technologies.
LG Electronics Vice Chairman and CEO S.S.Kim will open the forum with his welcome speech. World-renowned scholar Nicholas Negroponte (MIT Media Lab. Chairman), and UMTS Forum Chairman Jean-Pierre Bienaime will also deliver keynote speeches on 'The Future of Wireless' and 'Worldwide 3G Service,' respectively.
In the afternoon event, panels in each session will present and discuss mobile service trends-related subjects such as the direction of Korea's IT policies (Ministry of Information and Communication), trends of the fusion of communications and broadcasting (SKT), measures to respond to ubiquitous and 3G services (KTF), TDMB service vision (LGT), mediaFLO technology (Qualcomm), technological evolution of 4G network (EMP) and more.
Also the Core Mobile Technologies session will present in-depth discussions on the future of mobile phone LCD technology (TMD), camera phone trends under 3G/4G environment (Matsushita), and changes in 3G and 4G mobile markets (Renesas).

Meanwhile, in a separately installed exhibition hall, the forum will demonstrate the the world's first land-based DMB phone (model: LG-LT1000) and satellite DMB phone (model: LG-SB1000). It will likewise demonstrate the playing of one million-polygon 3D game phone (model: LG-SV360), MP3 music transmission on FM, LBS navigation, and other various cutting-edge mobile phone technologies of LG Electronics.
