LOS ANGELES – September, 13 2011 - LG Mobile and Gameloft™, a leading global publisher of digital and social games, brought gaming alive yesterday with the larger than life “N.O.V.A. 3D” gaming tournament in the middle of historical Hollywood. Using LG Thrill 4G™, the only glasses-free 3D smartphone in the U.S. to feature a 1GHz dual-core, dual-channel, dual-memory, masses of gamers gathered at the trendy Hollywood & Highland Center to compete for the chance to be crowded tournament champion and win more than $10,000 worth of LG products.  

 

The 3D gaming event took place throughout the day as hundreds of gamers and consumers competed in timed preliminary rounds of “N.O.V.A. 3D,” one of Gameloft’s most popular properties, for the chance to qualify for the final tournament.  In front of a cheering audience at The Rolling Stone LA Lounge, located in the heart of the Hollywood & Highland Center, the top 16 qualifiers battled it out during intense matches of “N.O.V.A. 3D” until INSERT WINNER proved victorious and was named champion, winning a new LG Thrill 4G phone, an LG Infinia 65-inch Cinema 3D 1080p LED HDTV, a LG 3D Wireless Blu-Ray player, a $100 AT&T gift card among other prizes. During the culmination of the tournament, “N.O.V.A” was visually brought to life with a spectacular 3D mapping projection at the Hollywood & Highland Center’s central courtyard that brought onlookers into the action.

The 3D gaming tournament marked the finale of LG’s “Bring Your World Alive” campaign, which began in late-June during the 3D Entertainment Summit in New York City with a keynote speech delivered by O’Brien. During his speech, O’Brien discussed the ways in which LG Thrill 4G breaks the common barriers of 3D technology, including accessibility, unwanted glasses and lack of content. Following the 3D Summit, LG hosted the “World’ First 3D User-Generated Concert” with Jane’s Addiction where more than 100 ticket-holders captured 3D video of the event using LG Thrill 4G devices. The footage was transformed into a 60-minute documentary that is currently available on the LG Thrill YouTube 3D channel, youtube.com/comealive.
