SAN DIEGO - LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. (LG Mobile Phones) is giving "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" a whole new meaning with multimedia campaign that gives baseball fans an opportunity of a lifetime including the chance to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to one of the highly-anticipated Subway Series games this weekend, "Meet a Met" and win Mets memorabilia with the LG Mets Trivia Challenge.
The program kicked off on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, when LG Mobile Phones gave fans the opportunity to tout their pitching skills at the LG-branded kiosk in Times Square. Participants were given the chance to throw three pitches in a pitching cage that measured the speed of the pitch with a radar gun. The fan with the fastest pitch speed,'-year-old Tim Fredlake from Phoenix, Arizona was deemed the LG New York vs. New York Pitching Contest winner. Fredlake threw the ball at a speed of 81 miles per hour and won the chance of a lifetime to throw out the ceremonial first pitch Saturday, May'.
"LG Mobile Phones is thrilled to partner with such a loved brand as the New York Mets to give fans the chance to test their pitching skills, knowledge of Mets history and luck with these exciting promotions," said Jon Maron, senior director of marketing for LG Electronics MobileComm, Inc. "This program is a marketing home run for LG. It allows us reach consumers where they work, live and play and provide first hand interaction with our products."
In addition to the LG New York vs. New York Pitching Contest, LG Mobile Phones will hold three contests, the LG Mets Texting Trivia Challenge, "Meet a Met" and Call & Win, at Shea Stadium during the cross-town series.
The LG Mets Texting Trivia, which will take place during the third and seventh innings of each game, gives fans the chance to win Mets memorabilia and an LG phone, either the LG VX9400 which allows users to watch live TV directly on their cell phone or the enV by LG, which is the perfect phone for texting with its QWERTY keypad. During both the third and seventh inning of each game, a piece of Mets trivia will appear on the DiamondVision. To enter, fans will use their mobile phone to type the letter that corresponds to what they think is the correct answer via text message to a phone number designated on the scoreboard. Mets memorabilia up for grabs includes a Carlos Beltran autographed game bat and a Carlos Delgado, David Wright and Pedro Martinez baseball set.
If fans can't recall Mets history, they still have two other opportunities to cash in during the three-game series. Fans can enter for a chance to "Meet a Met." To enter, fans must give their name and mobile phone number to an on-site LG representative. The winner will be chosen at random and notified by a pre-recorded telephone message from Mets former great and current First Base Coach Howard Johnson.
For those fans who are running around to grab a hot dog or foam finger, LG Mobile Phones presents pre-game and in-game call and win contests. This Saturday, there will be designated phone numbers identified in various locations throughout Shea and on brochures given out by LG representatives. Fans can call these numbers and may hear a congratulatory greeting that indicates they have won LG products including 42" plasma TVs, an LG mobile phone or Mets memorabilia.
