LG Supplies 8 Million Handsets to the Marketplace During Third Quarter

SAN DIEGO -- Jan. 15, 2004 -- LG Mobile Phones, the mobile handset division of LG Electronics, took the top CDMA manufacturer spot in the mobile handset market in the third quarter of this year according to market research from Strategy Analytics. According to Strategy Analytics' data, LG supplied a total of 8 million mobile phones to the U.S. CDMA market, posting 25 percent market share through the third quarter of 2003. This latest figure posted by LG represents an increase of nearly one million units shipped in the third quarter compared to the same period last year.

"This tremendous growth and success can certainly be attributed to the wild popularity of camera phones and the introduction of the LG VX6000 camera phone from Verizon Wireless," said Jae Hoon Bae, president of LG Mobile Phones. "The VX 6000 has brought a whole new group of consumers to know and love what LG has become known for - great features and functionality in a sleek, well-designed handset."

During the third quarter, continued to enjoy the success of its handsets launched earlier in the year, including the VX 4400 color screen phone from Verizon Wireless and the VX 2000 candy bar-shaped phone, a departure from LG's usual clamshell design.
