LG SHOWCASES MEGA CAPACITY FRONT AND TOP LOADER WASHER-DRYERS WITH TURBOWASH™ AT CES 2014

Faster, Bigger and Smarter, LG’s Latest Washers Offer Innovative TurboWash™ and Heat-Pump Technologies Along with the Convenience of NFC

SEOUL, Jan. 5, 2014 – LG Electronics (LG) is displaying its latest front-loading and top-loading washer-dryer pairs at CES 2014. The comprehensive range of convenience-enhancing products also includes the 29-inch front loader washer with TurboWash™ (WM8000HVA). This eco-friendly model is the first in the world to successfully meet CSA International’s stringent Sustainability Standard for Household Clothes Washers[1].

“As a responsible, forward-looking company, LG is dedicated to designing the most efficient technologies possible in an effort to protect our planet and offer greater value to customers,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “We’re gratified that our good work is being recognized; the WM8000HVA front loader was named an Honoree for the 2014 CES Innovation Awards for its high-efficiency washing performance (Eco-Design/Sustainable Technology) and has also become the first washer to meet CSA’s new household washer standards. As the number one selling front-loading washing machine in the U.S. market for six consecutive years[2], LG will continue to put consumers and the environment first.”

In addition to the eco-friendly WM8000HVA, LG will be showcasing its 29-inch front loader washer-dryers (WM8500HVA/DLEX8500V/DLGX8501V) equipped with NFC technology as well as its 27-inch front loader washer-dryers (WM4070HVA/DLHX4072V) featuring proprietary Heat-Pump technology. Visitors to CES 2014 can also see the 27-inch top-loading washer-dryer pairs with TurboWash™  (WT5680HVA/DLGX5681VE, WT1701CV/DLGY1702VE).

Meanwhile, LG’s smart washer-dryer pair (WT6001HVA/DLGX6002V) will be on show in the Smart Home zone. Thanks to the messaging capabilities of LG’s HomeChat, users can start a load of laundry, monitor the status of their washer, change washing cycles and receive push alerts via smartphone or LG Smart TV in a more unique and easy way.

LG’s Eco-Friendly 29-inch Front-loading Washer

Highlighting LG’s ongoing eco-friendly efforts, the 29-inch front-loading washing machine (WM8000HVA) is the world’s first washer to meet the requirements set out in the CSA’s new Sustainability Standard for Household Clothes Washers.[3] This strict new measurement system assesses the environmental impact of a washing machine over the course of its lifecycle[4].

Boasting a huge capacity of 5.2 cu.ft., the washer enables consumers to wash king-sized comforters and full sets of bedding in a single load. Without compromising cleaning performance, the company’s revolutionary TurboWash™ technology, which combines spin and rinse cycles, can save 20 minutes per load. Moreover, LG Steam technology delivers powerful yet gentle dirt, odor and wrinkle removal.

LG’s front-loading washer has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2013 ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient rating. The WM8000HVA can also cut a significant amount of household water usage.

The Allergiene™ Cycle harnesses the power of steam to gently remove allergens from clothing. Ideal for even the most delicate of fabrics, Allergiene™ is certified effective by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA).

Like all of LG’s industry leading washing machines, the 29-inch front loader is built around 6 Motion™ technology. The company’s innovative system uses a combination of six different motions to deliver customized washes for a wide variety of clothing. It causes fewer wrinkles, minimal fabric damage, and ensures quiet and reliable operation. The Inverter Direct Drive motor comes with a 10-year warranty and has been certified by VDE[5], Germany’s scientific and technical association, for its ability to perform effectively for 22 years.

The WM8000HVA also implements Smart Diagnosis™, which helps users to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot almost any potential issue.

LG’s Ultra Large Capacity Front-loading Washer and Dryer Pairs

The latest 29-inch washer-dryer pairs from LG (WM8500HVA/ DLGX8501V) offer large capacities and the convenience of NFC tagging. A wireless communication technology, NFC allows users to download specialized washing cycles – including time-saving, energy-saving and allergen-reducing options – to their smartphone. To transfer and commence running the downloaded cycle, all the user has to do is to touch their smartphone to the washer.

Furthermore, the 27-inch front loader washer-dryers (WM4070HVA/DLHX4072V) are the first in the U.S. market to offer the many benefits of LG’s energy efficient Heat-Pump drying technology. The Heat-Pump system helps to reduce energy wastage by cleverly recycling heat generated during the drying process. Meanwhile, the moisture inside the dryer is utilized by the Auto Clean System to clean the condenser. Filter Checkers and the Pocket Filter capture dirt particles separated from clothing to further increase drying efficiency.

The front-loading washer and dryer pairs employ LG’s TurboWash™, Steam and 6 Motion™ technologies. They also provide the Allergiene™ Cycle, Smart Diagnosis™ and the Inverter Direct Drive motor, which has a 10-year Warranty and VDE ‘22-year’ certification.

Mega Capacity Top-Loading Washer and Dryer Pairs

At this year’s CES, LG will also showcase its mega capacity 27-inch top-loader washer-dryer pairs (WT5680HVA/DLGX5681VE, WT1701CV/DLGY1702VE). Available with a 5.2 cu.ft and a 5.0 cu.ft capacity, the new machines incorporate a new horizontal damping system that allows them to accommodate more clothes than similarly proportioned models. The new top loader pairs are the first to incorporate LG’s time-saving TurboWash™ technology.

The top loader washer-dryer pairs have several innovative features in common with the company’s front loader washer-dryers, including 6 Motion™, Steam technology, and Smart Diagnosis™. Moreover, the dryers in LG’s latest top-loading duos are equipped with the EasyLoad door; a two-way door system offering users hybrid hamper-door style or swing-door style functionality. This unique setup lets users load and unload their machine in whichever way is easiest for them. What’s more, LG’s 5.0 cu.ft pair has front mounted controls, making it possible to select and set wash cycles without having to reach over the machine.
