LG gives back to their employees and their community with wellness programs, community volunteering and a special emissary to a Chinese marathon

SAN DIEGO September 22, 2003 For LG Mobile Phones, caring for their employees and participating in the welfare of their comfmunity begins at home and stretches across the world. LGs commitment to global and community outreach is highlighted by recent community sponsorships, health programs and a long race through China for one of their own representatives. From the Gobi Desert to their own backyard in San Diego, LG is striving to make a positive difference in the lives of their employees and the global community in which they thrive.

LG Mobile Phones has instituted a number of programs for their employees designed to improve not only their own lives, but to reach out into the community to make a difference in the lives of others. A corporate fitness program provides reimbursements for health club memberships for all LG employees. A Wellness Fair was held in July in order to better acquaint employees with the resources available to them for their physical and emotional health. Blood pressure screenings, massages and golf swing analyses were among the free services offered over the afternoon.

Being a part of the San Diego community, LG is constantly looking for ways to give back,?said Jae Hoon Bae, president of LG Mobile Phones. Whether were looking for opportunities in our home community or sending one of our own as a delegate to another part of the globe, LG is committed to improving the world around us.?

James DeJesus, a representative from LGs human resources department, was responsible for coordinating some of LGs employee wellness programs, and LG gave back to him by funding his marathon adventure in China. DeJesus just completed the Gobi March, the first ever footrace across the Gobi Desert in Northern China. Fifty participants from around the world made the six-day race across 250 kilometers of the largest cold winter desert in the world. LG paid DeJesuss travel expenses and sponsored him with a donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, his charity of choice.

LG recognizes their place within the global community, but realizes the importance of giving back at the local level. LG has coordinated blood drives, donated books and clothing to shelters and allots time during the week for employees to volunteer at charities and organizations of their choice ?all the while emphasizing how beneficial it is to ones own health to help others.
