What people are saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features and Space Saver! :-) After going through the first heat wave, this summer, buying an AC became a must so we got our LP0815WNR as it is rather compact. We wondered whether it would be powerful enough to cool our apartment....well...it DOES! We are very happy with our inspired and good buy! We DO recommend it, definitely! :-)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sucks Won’t go below 85°, obnoxiously loud and ugly. I’ve tried everything to get it to cool such as cleaning the filters and emptying the water. I even left it alone for a few hours to give it a chance to cool, and no change in temperature.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Can Cool Room but LEAKS from bottom So when it is able to fully function it isn’t a bad AC unit. However, it loses major points for leaking and I think not having the water catch in the container it’s supposed to go in. When I open the water valve at the bottom barely anything comes out. Yet it leaks a ton of water out of the back left section near the wheel and even out of the top filter part sometimes. This most recent dump out of water that happened today is also concerning because the water isn’t clean like usually. It has black spots in it so I am assuming mold is now growing in there.

Very happy with this unit. It has served us for 3-4 hot summers. We vented out the wall and now need to get the hose vented outdoors. Looking for a indoor wall plate and best option to securely seal hose to wall. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Asked by: Lori Levin
The LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0815WNR only comes with a Window Installation Kit that features a Window Vent Panel that has to be installed in an appropriate window that the exhaust vent hose attaches to so you can vent it to the outside. Regrettably, there is no available indoor wall plate for this unit or for our Portable Air Conditioners...^IFV

can this unit be used without venting as a dehumidifier only?

Asked by: bdlives
The LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0815WNR can be run in COOL mode, FAN mode, or DRY mode. DRY mode is used to remove humidity from the room without additional cooling. The fan speed is pre-set and cannot be adjusted in this mode. In high humidity, when you run the unit in DRY mode, you can remove the drain cap and the exhaust hose from the back of the unit and install a drain hose (18 mm [11/16"] inside diameter), and place the open end of the hose in a suitable drain location or outdoors...^IFV

I can't get the air conditioner to stay at 72 degrees. It keeps automatically changing to 85 - way too hot.

Asked by: grnbarb
There are many culprits as to why your LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0815WNR is not staying at 72° and it keeps changing to 85°, however, keep in mind that residential air conditioners can lower the indoor temperature a maximum of 20°F. The heat transfer capacity of an air conditioner can remove enough heat from a house to drop the temperature by 20°F. The thermostat for the air conditioner can be set up to 86°F or down to 62°F. If it's 100°F outside on a hot and dry day, you cannot set the thermostat to 62°F and expect the air conditioner to remove enough heat from the house to make a 38°F change. That will not happen. This is where you run up against the cooling capacity limits of an air conditioner. The heat transfer capacity of an air conditioner can remove enough heat from a house to drop the temperature by 20°F. It can be set to do less, but it can’t be made to do more. The compressor and refrigerant that carry out heat exchange are unable to pump out the amount of heat necessary to go any colder. So on that 100°F day, the maximum that AC could lower the temperature is to 80°F. This doesn’t mean you can’t have a cooler house on a day this hot, however: the indoor temperature may already be lower because effective insulation blocking the flow of heat into the house, and covering up windows prevents extra heat from getting in. So even on a 100°F day, you can probably get the AC down to a comfortable temperature of around 78°F. Use an indoor thermometer to tell what the temperature in your home is, and don’t lower the thermostat more than 20°F below that...^IFV
