Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not happy with LG products This is LG CP40NG10 eternal blu ray drive. I purchased this to play blu ray discs on my computer. I have it correctly installed, my computer has more than the minimum requirements but never passes the pass fail tests for the graphics card. I've tried updates (graphics card is up to date), uninstall and reinstall, new cables, even other computers and it doesn't work. I can play CD's and DVD's but then I already had a DVD player writer in my computer so that isn't much help. I purchased this product after trying to use an internal LG blu ray that wouldn't run either. I don't know if it's the software(yes that was updated too) or the actual hardware or an incorrect minimum requirements list but all of it came from LG with this player so for me it's a part of the purchase I made.

What kind of system is compatible for this DVD player a TV game tablet what else can be used for it and do I need a disc to download for it

The LG Super Multi Blue Portable with 3D Blu-ray Disc Playback & M-DISC™ Support, Model # CP40NG10 is designed for use with laptops and desktop computers that support the Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista™ (32 bit, 64 bit), Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 Operating Systems. It connects via USB 2.0 its system requirements are for a Pentium D 3.2 GHz or higher (Recommended Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4 GHz or higher.) CPU, the computer must have RAM of 1 GB or more and the HDD must have 30 GB or more of available space (60 GB for Blu-ray Disc). You will need to install the appropriate CD Recording Authoring Software that is supplied with the it before using this unit...^IFV

Hi! I was wondering if this can play blu ray and DVD from any region or is it region locked?

The LG Super Multi Blue Portable with 3D Blu-ray Disc Playback & M-DISC™ Support, Model # CP40NG10 is designed to play only discs authorized by the content provider for the specific geographical region it is sold in and for the U.S., that is region A/1. for Blu-ray DVDs and DVDs. This is intended to permit content providers (motion picture studios, television production company etc.) to do effective price differentiation between regions. According to the Blu-ray Disc Association, all Blu-ray Disc players and Blu-ray Disc-equipped computer systems are required to enforce regional coding. However, content providers need not use region playback codes and there is a large percentage of Blu-ray Discs from the major studios that are region-code-free and can, therefore, be played on any Blu-ray Disc player, in any region. Movie distributors have different region coding policies. Among major U.S. studios, Walt Disney Pictures, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios, and Sony Pictures have released most of their titles region-free. Unlike DVD region codes, Blu-ray region codes are verified only by the player software, not by the optical drive's firmware. The latest type of Blu-Ray disc, suitable for UltraHD content, are region-free... ^IFV

I get an error when trying to play a Blu-Ray disc on this player. "Your Blu-ray player requires an update in order to play this disc. Please visit your Blu-ray player manufacturer's website and follow their instructions to update your Blu-ray Player"

I am unable to find the software disk that came with this player and it won't run on my windows 8 computer. Is there a way to download a system setup to install it on my computer?

I apologize, but no; there are no software disks that might be sent aftermarket. Only one disk is licensed per device. Replacement disks are not available.
