What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I hate this dishwasher and would never recommend it to anybody. All my appliances are LG and have no complaints about any of them except this dishwasher. The ledge that the bottom rack sits on is too narrow for the rollers and constantly falls off track which requires me to unload, put the rack back on track and reload before use. This dishwasher was not cheap. I have hard many brands over the years and never had this problem before. The episode last night was the last straw No more LG dishwashers for me

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice concept, but poorly engineered. Been using the product for a year and kept hoping it would grow on me. Nope. The bottom rack tends to fall off its rail and rusted after less than a year. The detergent compartment is too small for detergent pods. The toe kick is poorly aligned and the door catches on it when opened or closed. And for some reason they've done away with the "clean" light that most dishwashers had since the 90s. Oh, a light comes in when the cycle is done, but if you open the door the light goes off so my new, state-of-the-art dishwasher now has one of the "clean/dirty" magnets from the dollar store. I'm actually looking forward to the day it quits for good so I can justify getting another one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Quiet but Clean Dishes Are An Issue The cycles are too long and the dishes come out foggy and unclean. We use a rinse aid as it suggests in the manual and an extra rinse cycle, dishes still don't come out clean. Clear glass seems to come out the worst. They seem to come out dirtier than when we put them in. Mainly, the glass is very foggy and has a white film that my wife has to manually scrub off later. The bottom rack prongs are difficult to keep vertical and the arrangement of them, in order to hold plates straight, is not very intuitive. My main concern is the fogginess and lack of cleanliness seen on the dishes. Is there something we're doing wrong? Oh, the third top third rack is not very helpful. Suggestions?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY!!!! About 6months ago we remodeled our kitchen and brought all new LG appliances. This dishwasher has made my life miserable!!! Most cups dont fit on top rack, the 3rd top rack is usless, its too close to the top of the dishwasher and will only fit things that are flat. Lets NOT talk about the bottom rack with the "interchangeable" rows that don't stay locked into place. Its a headache to load bc anything with a little weight (i.e. pots or pans) collapses the rows and by the end of the cycle your dishes are everywhere :(. Most cycles are 3 hours or longer and many of dishes wont be clean. For the price you can find something more effective that uses less water and actually gets your dishes clean. If you are considering this model don't bother, you will find your self hand washing and using it as a dish drainer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer remorse Every time I load this dishwasher the more I dislike it. On the lower rack my dishes fall onto each other no matter how I set the prongs! On the upper rack none of my glasses/ mugs fit properly! The only thing I do like is how quiet it is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very quiet I bought this unit about a year ago. Loved it at First. Very quiet, a little confusing to learn all the button features, but managed through it. The spray arm under the middle rack has been giving me quite a bit of grief lately. (two months), It keeps falling off. I went online and "chatted" with your online help persons on 3 different occasions. I have since ordered new sprayer arms, and most recently part # AEC73278201, which is the part that holds the sprayer arm under the middle rack. I'm still finding the sprayer arm laying on top of my dishes on the bottom rack and my dishes, not properly cleaned.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from OE error all the time we bought this dishwasher from Best Buy. We have had nothing but trouble with this dishwasher. All the time we were getting OE error. Best Buy geek squad came in and serviced at least 5 times, they replaced the drain pump, hose and filter. I am still seeing OE . Waiting for Best Buy geek squad to show up on the 6th. until then although we have top of the line dishwasher from a well renowned manufacturer we are forced to suffer by washing dishes manually!!! Will not recommend LG to anyone again!

How dry should my dishes be after a wash cycle with the drying option selected? It never has given us truly dry dishes since we bought it about a month ago.

Asked by: Amy626
Rinse aid is strongly recommended to enhance the drying performance of the LG Top Control SteamDishwasher™ w/ 3rd Rack, Model # LDF8874ST. In order to be more energy efficient, the hybrid drying system does not utilize a heating element in order to assist in drying, so a rinse aid plays an integral role in the drying process. If a rinse aid is not used, water may remain on the dishes and the tub. Rinse aid will help to ensure that the majority of the water has been sheeted off of the dishes at the end of the rinse and that the load is ready for the dry cycle. If a rinse aid is used and the performance still needs a boost, adjust the amount of rinse aid used by the indicator on the rinse aid cap. 4 is the default setting, but if necessary, set the level to 5 so more rinse aid will be used. Drying performance is also directly affected by the amount of heat that remains in the tub after the heated rinse is performed. If your dishwasher is far away from your home’s hot water heater, it may be necessary to run the hot water tap in the sink before starting a wash cycle, to ensure that cool water is purged from the hot water lines. This will ensure your dishwasher has a consistent supply of hot water from start to finish. Using the Sanitary Rinse setting will also aid in keeping the inner drum temperature and dishes hotter before drying begins. Allow the dishwasher to completely finish the dry cycle before opening the door. If the door is opened mid dry cycle, the heat that is necessary for the hybrid dry system to work will escape. This will cause all of the dishes inside to remain wet once the cycle finishes...^IFV

What do the lights on the front of the dishwasher mean?

Asked by: Steve j
When a cycle is running, the SignaLight indicators will illuminate for the active stage: Model with 4 LEDs: WASH – RINSE – DRY – CLEAN; Models with 2 LEDs: OPERATING – CLEAN; Models with 1 LED: OPERATING (Flickering) / CLEAN (Lighting). Once the cycle is complete, the CLEAN light will illuminate for four minutes.

I am very sorry!! But I am not happy with my 3rd rack being divided in two pieces. There is any way of I get a single piece rack like the other brands?

Asked by: Mfics
I apologize, but no; this dishwasher is designed to utilize only this particular design of cutlery rack. The design is such that one side can have its height adjusted, without having to do the same to both. This information can be noted on page 20 of your Owner’s Manual.

A box lights up around each control button on the control panel, but the actual text commands do not light up so I can't read them. Is there; 1) an on/off or dimmer for the text; 2) a problem, or; 3) a feature (the way it's designed)? It's brand new.

Asked by: MichaelJM1960
We appreciate your interest in this dishwasher and its features. The description given is normal operation. The text of these buttons is not designed to be lit; rather the outline of the buttons are all that will shine.

How does the stemware fit

Asked by: Doss2063
We appreciate your interest in this dishwasher. Stemware will typically be arranged on the upper rack. The upper rack should be adjustable in height, depending upon the need of more room.
