What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Customers! Our hand-me-down dryer from the 90's finally gave up & I began the daunting task of researching for a new one. I poured over reviews & finally settled on this dryer, recommend by Consumer Reports. According to them LG has a pretty good track record for not breaking down- which is important now days when major appliances do not seem to have the longevity they once did. We love the look, that they're stackable & all of the easy to use features!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from REAL Steam clothes dryer When it came time to replace our old gas clothes dryer, my wife wanted one that had a steam feature. In my review of many clothes dryers that claimed to have a steam feature, most only spray a mist into the dryer while it is running. Not the case with this LG gas clothes dryer. This machine actually creates steam. In operation, the dryer stops the drum from spinning, injects steam for a minute or so, resumes spinning and then repeats again and perhaps even more times. Nevertheless, this steam function works great at unwrinkling clothes left in the dryer too long or just a piece of clothing that needs a quick bit of freshening. The dryer also has a big selection of drying functions which can be modified to the users desire. I and my wife are very happy with this new clothes dryer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! We bought this over 4 years ago and it works great! So much so that we just purchased a replacement TV and went with LG because of our experience with this washer/dryer set.

DLEX5170v Can the dryer be converted to and all electric dryer

Asked by: rolypo
We would need some clarification on your inquiry in which you inquire if the DLEX5170V can be converted to an all electric dryer, but the DLEX5170V is an electric dryer! If on the other hand you're inquiring if the DLGX5171W can be converted to an electric dryer or the other way around the answer is no. They are totally different units and if you look at the electrical requirements for a Gas dryer, they are rated at 120V, 15A whereas those for an electric dryer are rated at 240V 30A...^IFV

what is the maximum length the dryer vent pipe can be to vent outside?

Asked by: bashir93
According to the installation instructions, listed on page 15 of your owner’s manual, it appears that the maximum length of 4” Diameter, rigid metal duct should be 65 feet. Deduct 6 feet of distance for each 90-degree elbow joint used. Use as few elbow joints as possible.

my dryer does not continue drying for the amount of minutes

if i set the dryer to 1:10 minutes or 40 or any amount it seems that it stops after a few minutes and my clothes are not dry.
Asked by: blueisland
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this gas dryer. It is not normal for this unit to stop the dry time so soon, unless moisture is not detected. If this is not the case, then there could be a problem with a sensor or some other related component. The unit will likely require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at

Why does the dryer produce so much external dust?

I have never encountered a dryer that produces so much dust. There is always a fine layer of dust after each dryer cycle. After a couple of cycles there is large amount of dust all over the washing/drying room.
Asked by: inol
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dryer. Dust is not normally produced by a dryer. If the dryer is producing anything that is being blown into the room, then it would be recommended to check the lint duct connections, ensuring they are properly attached and sealed.

To use the steam function, do you have to connect dryer to the washer?

Does this model dryer have its own manual steam feeder (a drawer you fill with water), unlike others that need connection to the washer in order to operate their steam functions?
Asked by: alyj
This model has a reservoir on the top of the dryer and all you do is fill it up with water. You do not need another cold water line hooked up to this dryer.

LG Gas Dryer Model # DLGX5171W keeps saying to add water when using the steam function. Why?

When using the steam function on the gas dryer the add water message keeps flashing on the display even though the tray compartment is full with water and the lever is all the way closed. What steps can I take to resolve the problem?
Asked by: Confused12
One of three solutions: One remove and replace the tray compartment Two unplugging dryer for 20 seconds does a reset or you can push start and the temp controls at the same time to see diagnostics, there meanings for the codes are viewable via searching for diagnostics LG dryer. Three there is a sensor that on my dryer went bad within 3 months. You can access the scanner by removing the top which is about 15 screws there are good instructions on how to do this for any dryer just put in dryer disassemble in google. Once off you will see the sensor and places with videos to get this are like fixya etc. That will show you how to remove and replace it. Number 3 is not really worth the time or money if you can still use the steam function which we could but needed to disassemble for another reasons months later and fixed this at the same time.
