I dubbed a VHS onto a DVD+R but it won't finalize or play on another DVD player, why? There was no option to finalize this DVD.

I have a model RC 199H
Asked by: Terri215
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this device. A DVD+R disc is designed to not require Finalizing. This is done automatically. If it still does not play in the other DVD player, check that player’s specifications to see if it is capable of reading a DVD+R disc. Many are not able to do so.

Can't playback a recorded DVD

I own a LG DVD/VCR combo unit Model # RC 199H. The VHS tapes play fine and pre-recorded commercial DVDs and movies play fine, however DVDs made from this unit will not play. The DVDs are finalized. Is there an additional setting that needs to be selected to playback DVDs made from this unit?
Asked by: Mort
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this recorder. There are no specialized settings required to allow the playback of videos recorded on the same device. It is recommended to attempt the playback of these discs in another player. If they work, then the problem lies with the player. If they do not, then there is a problem with the discs themselves.

RC 199H won't dub

Will pay VHS and stop where I want to begin to record, but when I press dub key, I get an icon on the top right that is a red circle with a line through it.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this dual recorder. When you are preparing the recorder, and have the tape set, press the button to activate the DVD player, so that the DVD content will play. When the DVD portion of the device is active, THEN press your DUBBING button. The unit should begin to operate properly.

Can't set timer to record with success

When I set the timer to record, the machine comes on at the proper time acting like it should. Then, at the moment it should start recording, it shuts off--erasing the timer setting. I have tried unplugging and resetting everything. On occasion this works but not most of the time. Is there a solution to this problem? I have a DVD recorder because I want to record things.
Asked by: Ceil
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this DVD Recorder. Be certain that the player is deactivated before it is scheduled to record. If the player is already on, it may automatically deactivate. A one-time recording would deactivate at that time. If having the unit deactivated does not resolve the matter, then the unit may require service. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

can't play a dvd

I own a LG dvd/vcr combo Model # RC 199H The VHS tapes play fine w/o any trouble; but my DVD will not play any movies. What am I doing wrong. I also have misplaced the owner's manual.
Asked by: Carl
It is unlikely that anything has been done incorrectly if the unit had been used properly and now will not playback a disc. If no discs are working, then it is likely to have a failure in the disc reader. The unit will likely require service. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to make proper service arrangements.
