In today’s dynamic automotive industry, developing innovative technology is only part of the challenge. Just as important is the ability to bring it to market efficiently and at scale.
“At LG Electronics, we have a strong record of providing end-to-end support to help global mobility-sector companies such as Nissan do just that,” says Pablo Zambrano, the head of U.S. sales for the LG Vehicle Solution Company.
Case in point: LG’s contributions as both an automotive technology and manufacturing partner were just recognized by Nissan North America, naming LG Vehicle Component Solutions USA a finalist for the Monozukuri Spirit Performance Award and presenting LG the Regional Monozukuri Spirit Certificate.
The Japanese term Monozukuri literally translates to “making things.” For Nissan, the term refers to far more than just the manufacturing of physical products.
Deeply ingrained in the company’s management philosophy, Monozukuri describes an end-to-end approach to manufacturing excellence, covering design, development and production as well as the prioritization of operational and cost efficiency, product quality and customer value.
The Monozukuri Spirit Certificate recognizes top suppliers like LG that put these principles into practice. “With our strength in manufacturing and collaborative, client-centric approach, we have continued to strengthen our working relationship with Nissan North America,” Zambrano explains.
Leveraging LG’s global manufacturing network, the company has worked closely with Nissan North America to support localized production and ensure alignment across key manufacturing activities.
Zambrano says close coordination among global and regional teams has enabled LG to respond flexibly to evolving program requirements while maintaining its focus on quality and dependable execution. “This underscores LG’s manufacturing expertise and our ability to adapt global capabilities to the needs of individual markets,” he adds.
The Monozukuri Spirit Certificate LG received from Nissan North America is not the first accolade collected during their longstanding partnership.
A year ago, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. in Japan honored LG Electronics with an award for contributions to the advancement of in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) technologies, including the development of a high-performance in-vehicle computing platform and the successful mass production of Nissan IVI systems across multiple regions.
Taken together, these recognitions highlight the two sides of automotive innovation: the ability to develop the technology and the operational capabilities to deliver it reliably and at scale.
“By building our expertise across IVI, displays and telematics, and enhancing our development and manufacturing assets and competencies,” Zambrano says, “LG aims to continue to provide our automaker partners with reliable, high-quality solutions.”
In the fast-moving mobility sector, the process of turning new technologies into production-ready solutions requires close integration between development and manufacturing.
According to Zambrano, the latest recognition from Nissan reflects LG’s efforts to support Nissan North America manufacturing execution and manufacturing excellence. “It also points to the robust combination of expertise and execution that allows us to support global automakers in bringing new mobility experiences to market,” he concludes.
