IE Error Code - Front Load Washer

  • Troubleshooting

An IE error code indicates that the washer was unable to fill with water.

During cold and freezing weather conditions, an IE error code could mean the water in the water supply lines are frozen. Once the temperature increases above freezing, the water supply will resume.

Check each of the following for other causes of IE error code:

    1. Clip the end of the hose into the elbow bracket. Connect the elbow bracket within 4inches(10cm) of the end of the drain hose.

If the drain hose is extended more than 4inches(10cm) beyond the end of the elbow bracket, mold or microorganisms could spread to the inside of the washer.

    2. Insert the end of the drain hose into the stand pipe.
    3. end of drain hose
    4. Use a tie strap to secure the drain hose in place.
  • If both the hot and cold water taps are not fully open, the IE code will appear on the washer's display. Be sure that both the hot and cold water taps are opened fully, and resume normal operation.

  • If the washer's inlet hoses are kinked or damaged, water may not flow properly into the washer. Straighten out any kinks that may be in the water lines. If the inlet hoses are damaged, they will need to be replaced. Please visit our Parts & Accessories page.

    1. Turn off the home's hot and cold water supply taps/valve.

      turn off water supply
    2. Remove the water inlet hoses from the washer. Ensure to have a bucket to drain the remaining water from the hoses.

    3. Check the inlet filters on the inlet valves of the washer, inspect for any mineral deposits or other debris that may be clogging them.

    4. If the filters on the inlet valves or hoses are clogged, remove them and clean them thoroughly.

  • Using FloodSafe® hoses may not be compatible with LG washing machines. The inlet valve on the LG washer opens quickly supplying instant water pressure. This instant water pressure may trigger the FloodSafe® hose to close as if there were a leak to shut off the water supply.

If the IE error code persists as a result of using 3rd party hoses, it will be necessary to use the LG hoses that were supplied with the washer.
