Windows is slow – Checking CPU usage
If your computer feels slow, you can use the Task Manager to help identify which process or application is causing high CPU usage.
Cause and Symptoms
- After installing Windows, automatic updates may be downloaded and installed, causing slowdowns when using Windows.
- This can happen if your notebook PC is infected with a virus or malware.
- Have you checked to see if there is a processor that is causing excessive work on the CPU, the computing device?
Try this
Press [Ctrl + Alt + Delete] on the keyboard simultaneously and then select Task Manager.
When the following appears, click the [Details] button.
Click the Processes tab, then click the CPU column header to sort processes by CPU load.
If a specific process has high CPU usage, please research it by checking the Internet for that process by name.
Select the suspicious process and then click the [End Task] button in the bottom right.
