Noise while cooling is normal, however, if there is dust, a foreign substance, or obstacles in the way of the air conditioner airflow, these obstructions may cause the air conditioner to make loud abnormal noises during operation.
Try This
-
Clean the Air Conditioner’s Ultra-Fine Filter and Coils
If the filter or coils are covered with dust and debris, cooling performance may be degraded, and may cause noise and condensation.
NoteFor information on cleaning the filter, please see our LG Air Conditioner - Regular A/C Maintenance article for further assistance.
-
Adjust the Fan Speed
Wind sound and noise from operating product may be heard louder if the product capacity is large, or the product is installed in a restricted space.
-
Adjust the Air Flow Vents
If you use a product without ventilation lever, open the vents fully to prevent restricted airflow causing whistling or squeaking noises.
NoteThe up/down and left/right automatic control function varies by model, so refer to the user manual.
-
Check the Install
Severe vibration or rattling sounds are usually the result of improper installation. If the air conditioner wasn’t installed securely in the window according the directions in the owner’s manual, then the case could rattle or make a loud vibrating noise.
