LG TV - Picture Quality and Optimization

Try This

1. Select Your TV Model:

   
   Picture Quality Adjustment
   Dark or Dim Picture
   Picture Size/Aspect Ratio

2. Picture Quality Adjustment

   

   Note

   If the image is blocky, pixelated, or grainy, this may be caused by a poor connection, or lower quality content displayed on a UHD TV.

   Let's perform a picture test:

   Running [Picture Test] in [2022 WebOS22] and [2021 WebOS 6.0]

   1Press the [Settings] button on your TV remote and select [All Settings] in the [Settings] menu.

   2Select [Support] → [Screen Self-Diagnosis].

   3Perform [Picture Test] to check the screen condition.

   Running [Picture Test] in [2020 WebOS 5.0]

   1Press the [Settings] button on your TV remote and select [All Settings] in the [Settings] menu.

   2Select [Support] and then [Additional Settings].

   3Select [Picture Test] in [Additional Settings].

   4Perform [Picture Test] to check the screen condition.

   5Press Yes to display a screen comparing FHD and UHD.

   Running [Picture Test] in [2019 WebOS 4.5 or older]

   1Press the [Settings] button on your TV remote and select [All Settings] in the [Settings] menu.

   2Select [Picture] then [Picture Test.

   3Perform [Picture Test] to check the screen condition.

   If the picture looks fine, the next step is to perform an A/V reset.

   1. Press the [Mute] button 3 times in a row on your AI (Magic) or general (button-only) remote control to display the [Select functions you want to access] pop-up.
   2. Select [AV Reset] to initialize the picture and sound settings.

   How to fix when your TV screen is too dark or blurry

   Select the all settings icon and navigate to Picture Settings.

   Use Select Mode to choose the Vivid option to create more clarity and brightness.

   For more precise correction, return to the Picture Settings Menu and select Advanced Settings.

   Within Advanced Settings, select Brightness.

   There you can adjust the screen brightness to your preference.

   How to change Picture mode

   ➔ How to change Picture mode for [2022 WebOS 22] and [2021 WebOS 6.0]

   Press the button on the remote control and select [All Settings] → [Picture] → [Select Mode] → [Vivid].

   1. Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on the remote control.
   From [Settings], select [All Settings].

   

   2. Select [Picture] → [Select Mode].

   3. Change to [Vivid] or adjust the brightness from the standard Picture setting.

   Press the button on the remote control and select [All Settings] → [Picture] → [Picture Mode Setting]

   1. Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on the remote control.
   From [Settings], select [All Settings].

   

   2. From [Picture], select [Picture Mode Settings].

   

   3. While you change the [Picture Mode], check the Picture brightness.

   

   ※ It is necessary to set the desired picture mode every time there is a change in the input mode, as the picture mode settings (brightness/quality) may differ depending on the Picture input (digital broadcasting, HDMI, etc.).

   How to change the brightness on Advanced Custom Settings

   ➔ How to change on [2022 WebOS 22] and [2021 WebOS 6.0]

   Press the button on the remote and select [All Settings] → [Picture] → [Advanced Custom Settings] → [Brightness] → [OLED Pixel Brightness].

   ※ You can’t change the brightness if the setting is on [Auto Power Saving] Mode.

   1. Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on the remote control.
   From [Settings], select [All Settings].

   

   2. Select [Picture] → [Advanced Settings].

   3. Select [Brightness].

   

   4. Select [OLED Pixel Brightness].

   5. Use the remote control to adjust the brightness. The closer it is to 100, the brighter the Picture.

   Press the button on the remote control and select [All Settings] → [Picture] → [Picture Mode Setting]

   1. Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on the remote control.
   From [Settings], select [All Settings].

   

   2. From [Picture], select [Picture Mode Settings].

   3. You can adjust the brightness separately in [Picture Mode Setting].

   

   ※ It is necessary to set the desired picture mode every time there is a change in the input mode, as the picture mode settings (brightness/quality) may differ depending on the Picture input (digital broadcasting, HDMI, etc.).

   When only part of the Picture appears black and white or dark

   This symptom is not because TV is a defect, but rather because fighting channels (i.e. UFC channel), frequently show scenes that are graphic or have excessive bleeding. To overcome the reluctance to watch, the area is therefore handled in black and white.
   The same logic applies to some channels where scenes show up in mosaic patterns.

4. Picture Aspect Ratio

   Change the screen size to ensure the Picture you are watching is the right ratio.

   Open the TV Settings menu and select as instructed below.

   
   

   ➔ Method for changing screen size on [2021 WebOS6.0] or later versions

   Press the button on the remote control and select [All Settings] → [Picture] → [Aspect Ratio] → [User Selection].
   
   

   1. Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on the remote control.
   From [Settings], select [All Settings].

   

   2. Select [Aspect Ratio] under [Picture].

   3. Change the [Aspect Ratio] in [User Selection].

   Press the button on the remote control and select [All Settings] → [Picture] → [Aspect Ratio Settings] → [Aspect Ratio].
