At the forefront of LG's 2007 product portfolio shown at Christie's is the company's new high-end kitchen series, which will make its retail debut in mid-August.
"This premium line of innovative kitchen appliances combines beautiful, aesthetic design with great performance," according to John Weinstock, vice president, marketing, LG Electronics USA, Inc., Digital Appliances Division.
Led by the industry's first dual-convection electric range and a new dishwasher incorporating steam technology, the LG premium kitchen series also includes a first-of-its-kind French-door refrigerator with a vertical ice and water dispenser, a unique microwave oven design, and LG's first gas range, all in a luxurious stainless steel finish.
LG's premier laundry innovations on display at Christie's include the first-of-its-kind complete steam laundry pair in a designer stainless steel finish. LG was the first company to incorporate steam technology into its appliance line, offering unique functionality and enhanced performance for users.
In addition to a variety of innovative features for both the washer and dryer, such as a SteamFreshTM cycle to reduce wrinkles and refresh clothing without water, this revolutionary steam technology enables higher energy efficiency and water conservation compared with traditional machines.
Weinstock also explained LG's commitment to continuing to bolster its leadership in the premium appliance category. "All the products previewed tonight offer high-end design features and technological superiority," he said, highlighting LG's 2007 appliance masterpieces. Featured products include:
" Cooking Innovations: LG enhanced its line of cooking appliances to include a dual-convection electric range, all-new gas ranges and a unique microwave oven design.
o An industry first, LG's Dual-Convection Free Standing Electric Range delivers superior cooking versatility by utilizing two convection fans, each surrounded by a heating element, that work in concert to provide more even baking and faster roasting of food. In addition, pre-heating times are improved by up to 30 percent with the system.
o LG also unveiled a Gas Range as part of its new kitchen series. The unit combines a large 5.0 cubic-foot capacity oven with the functionality of convection. Its highly styled display and SmoothTouchTM controls give the unit a sophisticated look and feel that can update any kitchen.
o LG enhanced its portfolio of microwave ovens with an innovative, industry-first model that provides easy access to the oven cavity through a unique, pull-up door design, delivering added convenience without compromising capacity and stylish design. The new design allows the microwave door to stay open, freeing up both hands for cooking.
" Steam Dishwasher: LG's innovative new Steam Dishwasher features an advanced stylish design with a fully-integrated LCD touch control panel. Unique to this model is a steam option which delivers enhanced cleaning performance as well as greater energy efficiency compared to traditional models. For added versatility, the dishwasher also features a third rack, and an extra large stainless steel tub that can accommodate up to 14 place settings in a single load. At only 45 decibels, this dishwasher is among the quietest available with a built-in food disposer in the United States. Its "SteamDelicate cycle" gently, yet thoroughly, cleans fragile items such as stemware and china during the wash process.
" French-Door Refrigerator: From high performance, to elegant design and outstanding versatility, LG announced a new French-door refrigerator with an innovative vertical ice and water dispenser that delivers increased functionality. An industry-first, this model incorporates a unique, stylish vertical ice and water dispenser, the industry's tallest. The dispenser measures 11-plus inches high to accommodate extra-tall bottles, large pitchers and coffee pots. The refrigerator also has auto-closing doors, assisted by hydraulic hinges that ensure a solid seal. This model is available in a standard depth or counter depth for a built-in look.
" HDTV Refrigerator: LG's stylish new high-definition television (HDTV) is a unique side-by-side model incorporating LG's powerful fifth-generation ATSC-QAM-NTSC digital television tuner to deliver crisp digital broadcast and unscrambled cable images to the refrigerator's 15-inch HD LCD television screen. This first-of-its-kind unit also includes a four-inch Weather & Info Center LCD display located above the ice and water dispenser complete with advanced features and functionality such as a weather forecasting capability, built-in recipe bank, USB port for uploading digital images and more.
