New Refrigerator Provides Exceptional Convenience, Sleek Innovative Design

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., May 29, 2014 Leading home appliance manufacturer LG Electronics has extended its original, award-winning Door-in-Door® technology to the side-by-side category with the debut of its newest ENERGY STAR® certified refrigerator (model LSC2291ST), allowing families convenient access to their favorite foods and enhancing the design of the kitchen.

LG pioneered the “door-within-a-door” refrigerator feature that allows quick, easy access to “go to” snacks and beverages in the interior compartment without requiring users to open the entire refrigerator door, and offering families convenient access to their favorite foods. Consumers simply push a button on the door handle to release the magnetic seal to access this compartment. This feature also reduces cold air loss, which helps keep food fresher.*

In addition to the ultra-convenience of the Door-in-Door design, this new side-by-side model incorporates sophisticated, Integrated SmartPull™ handles, providing your refrigerator a perfectly unified look and serving as a distinguished addition to any kitchen. The new LG refrigerator’s sleek and modern aesthetic with contoured doors and hidden hinges gives the new model a look as sophisticated as it is functional. This totally redesigned refrigerator boasts a stainless steel exterior, interior LED lighting and a seamless built-in look thanks to its counter-depth profile, keeping in line with modern kitchen décor trends. To allow more space for groceries, this refrigerator features 22 cubic feet of space.

“LG’s patented Door-in-Door feature, which was first introduced on our French-door refrigerators, has become widely popular among busy American families,” said David VanderWaal, head of marketing for LG Electronics USA. “Now we’re breathing new life into the side-by-side category with this innovative feature.”

In recent years, most of the industry’s refrigerator innovations have been in the French-door category, even though, side-by-side refrigerators still represent 22 percent** of the overall U.S. market today, VanderWaal explained. “LG’s new Door-in-Door model is a game-changer for side-by-sides,” he said. “And the fresh look and enhanced convenience of this new model delivers on our ‘Life’s Good’ brand promise of making consumers’ lives easier.”

This ENERGY STAR certified model incorporates LG’s Linear Compressor technology that quickly reacts to temperature fluctuations and helps keep food fresher, longer, resulting in increased energy savings with accurate temperature monitoring.
