LG Gram - Troubleshooting Mic Voice Recording Failing

If the mic function is off or if the recording app cannot record sound, please check the mic settings.
If the audio (sound card) driver is not installed or if there is an error with the driver, the mic function cannot be used.

Causes and Symptoms

The mic settings on Windows are not configured correctly.
Either the audio driver is not installed on your system, or there is an error with the currently installed driver.

Try this

In order to use the mic function, [Allow App to Access Mic] / [Audio Device Management] settings and the mic setting on the recording app need to be configured.
Refer to the following instructions to configure the settings on your Windows.

In the Microphone privacy settings, turn on [Allow apps to access your microphone].

In the task bar search box, type and select [Microphone privacy settings].

In the taskbar search box, type and select [Microphone privacy settings].

If the [Allow apps to access your microphone] setting is turned off, then turn it [On].

If the [Allow apps to access your microphone] setting is turned off, then turn it [On].

Adjusting the [Mic] volume on Control Panel

In the taskbar search box, input [Control Panel] and run it.

Click [Control Panel] → [Hardware and Sound] → [Sound] menu.

Click [Control Panel] → [Hardware and Sound] → [Sound] menu.

In the [Recording] tab, check if the mic is activated and click the [Properties] button.
In the [General] tab of [Microphone Array Properties], check if the [Device usage] option is set to [Use This Device(Enable)].

Click the [Listen] tab and uncheck [Listen to This Device]. Then click [Apply].
Open [Play This Device] and check if the speaker connected to the laptop is activated.

On the [Levels] tab, check if the mic is turned on. Adjust the volume level.
If the mic is muted, then click it once more to cancel the mute and then click the [OK] button.

Click the [Listen] tab, uncheck [Listen to This Device]. Then click [Apply].

Have you attempted the methods mentioned above, yet your mic still doesn’t work?

➔ Check if the audio driver is installed properly.

If the audio driver is not installed or there is an installation error, then the mic will be deactivated and the mic function cannot be used.
If that is the case, install the audio driver again.

Removing the sound driver in Device Manager

After typing [ search btn Device Manager] in the taskbar search box, click [ Device Manager Device Manager].
In the [Sound, Video and Game Controller] menu, select [Realtek(R) Audio] and then click [ Uninstall Device Uninstall Device].

※ A different sound device is used for each model, so please make sure to check the detailed specifications of the product. (e.g. [Conexant HD Audio] and other devices exist.)

[☐ Delete the driver software for this device.] Uncheck the checkbox and then click [Uninstall].

In the [Sound, Video and Game Controller] menu, select [Realtek(R) Audio] and click [Uninstall device].

Do you want to restart the PC now to apply the new system settings? Select [Yes] to restart Windows and then use the [LG Update Program] to reinstall the audio driver.

How to download and install an audio driver

You can install an audio driver by using [LG Update Program].
LG Update apps allow you to install software from LG Electronics that is suitable for your system.
Install the [ LG Update Installer Download ] file to run LG Update apps suitable for your system.
