LG TV - How to Access 4K Content From An External Device

  • Troubleshooting

At a Glance

If a 4K signal is transmitted to the set-top device but 4K broadcasts do not appear on your LG TV, you must first check if the HDMI cable you are using is version 2.0 or higher and then run TV settings.

Try This

To watch broadcasts in 4K, there must be a 4K signal transmitted to a wired set-top device or other related external device.

If the 4K signal is transmitted to the set-top device but 4K broadcasts do not appear, you must first check if the HDMI cable you are using is version 2.0 or higher and then run TV settings.
Press the External Input button on the Magic Remote.
Check the right side of the screen if the current broadcast is connected via the antenna or the HDMI input.

If it is connected to the HDMI port, press and hold the Settings button on the Magic Remote for about 5 seconds to enter [Detailed Settings].

Press [General] in [Detailed Settings].
Select HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color from the list in the General menu.
Check if the currently connected HDMI port is set to Off.

If it is set to Off, change it to On so that the TV can support 4K images.

Press the Restart button again to restart the TV and finish the settings.
Now you can receive 4K signals and watch them on the screen.

If you cannot watch 4K channels yet, please check if the output resolution in the Settings menu of the set-top box is set to 2160p (60fps).

If 4K channels still don’t work properly even after the resolution is set correctly, please contact the manufacturer of the set-top box.

This guide was created for all models, so the images or content may be different from your product.
