LG TV - How to Set the Power On/Off Timer on an LG TV

At a glance

If you would like to set the on/of timer on your LG TV, first check that the time is set correctly on the TV. If the time is wrong or shows incorrect time information, an error may occur when setting the power on/off timer.

How to set a [Power-On/Off] timer

Press the setting img button on the TV remote and select [All Settings] → [General] → [System] → [Time & Timer] → [Timers].

1. Turn on the TV and press the [Settings] button on your TV remote.
Select [All Settings] in the [Settings] menu.

2. Select [System] in [General].

1. Select [Power on Timer].

2. Change to [On] if it is [Off].
Adjust the Time, Timer Repeat, Input Mode, Channel, or Volume settings.

Press the setting img button on the TV remote and select [All Settings] → [General] → [Time] → [Timers].

2. Select [Time] in [General].

[2021 WebOS6.0] Press the setting img button on the TV remote and select [All Settings] → [General] → [System] → [Time & Timer] → [Timers].


[2019 WebOS4.5] Press the setting img button on the TV remote and select [All Settings] → [General] → [Timers].

[2018 WebOS4.0] Press the setting img button on the TV remote and select [All Settings] → [General] → [Timers].

[2017 WebOS3.5] Press the setting img button on the TV remote and select [All Settings] → [General] → [Timers].

※ If your remote control does not have the [ setting img ] button, press the Home [ home img ] button, and select Settings [ setting img ] on the screen.

Note
  • If the device automatically turns off at a certain time: Try setting the Power-off time to [Off].
    If it is not set to off, the timer may trigger the power-off, which may be mistaken for a malfunction.
    Setting the timer to off: Select Menu (Detailed Settings) → Time → Power off time → Off.
  • If the device automatically turns on at a certain time: Try setting the Power-on time to [Off].
    You can use it as a morning call or set a power-on timer.
    Setting the timer to off: Select Menu (Detailed Settings) → Time → Power on time → Off.
If there is no user input for 2 or 4 hours after the device turns on with the Power-on Timer, it turns off automatically.

Setting the TV to turn off after 4 hours

This function automatically turns the TV off if there is no remote control operation for 4 hours after the TV turns on automatically.
This prevents the TV from being turned on for a prolonged time in the absence of a user after the power-on function is activated.

※ Depending on the model used, the TV may turn off automatically after 2 hours of inactivity.
