LG TV - Troubleshooting Distorted Audio From the TV Speakers

Distorted audio may occur as a side effect of a feature, an issue with a certain audio input, or in rare cases there may be an issue with the TV.

Sound Self-Diagnosis on your LG TV

To perform a sound self-diagnosis on your LG TV, go to All Settings.

Under Support, select OLED Care and then Device Self Care to optimize your TV.

Now select Sound Self-Diagnosis to perform a sound test.

Follow the instructions to see if your TV has any audio problems.

If the issues persist, contact LG Support for more help.

Perform a Sound Test

[WebOS 23]Press the settings button button and select [All Settings][Support][Device Self-Care][Sound Self-Diagnosis].

[WebOS 22]Press the settings button button and select [All Settings][Support][OLED Care][Device Self-Care][Sound Self-Diagnosis].

[WebOS 6.0]Press the settings button button and select [All Settings][Support][OLED Care][Device Self-Care][Sound Self-Diagnosis].

[WebOS 5.0]Press the settings button button and select [All Settings][Support][Additional Settings][Sound Test].

[WebOS 4.5]Press the settings button button and select [All Settings][Sound][Sound Test].

[WebOS 4.0]Press the settings button button and select [All Settings][Sound][Sound Test].

[WebOS 3.5]Press the settings button button and select [All Settings][Sound][Sound Test].

Note

When the test sound is played, the volume level is automatically set to 20. Once the sound test is complete, the volume level is restored to its previous value.

Note

If the distortion continues or no sound is heard, the unit will require service. Please visit our Request a Repair page for further assistance.

If the Sound Test plays properly

1 Check the cable used to connect the media device to the TV. Make sure it is firmly connected to both devices.

2Try to use a different cable or test the same cable on a different TV (in case the cable is malfunctioning).

Reset the video/audio settings

1Press the [Mute] button on the standard remote or Magic Remote 3 times repeatedly.

2Select A/V Reset.

Note

All video and audio settings will be set to the out of the box factory settings.
