LG Smart TV underage membership cancellation

LG is cracking down on underage LG Smart TV membership accounts by cancelling and deleting those accounts. As per following Terms of Use, located in the LG Content Store and, accessible at the following link:, and stipulated in the 4th paragraph “YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 14 YEARS OF AGE TO USE OR ACCESS THE LG CONTENT STORE. IF YOU ARE AT LEAST 14 BUT UNDER THE AGE OF 18,YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN’S PERMISSION TO USE OR ACCESS THE LG CONTENT STORE” process is underway to delete delinquent membership accounts.



  1. Delinquent membership account deletion process will take place on July 26, 2017. A second round of underage membership account deletion will take place on April 12, 2018.
  2. In the case of memberships having revealed a cash balance on account, respective members will have been e-mailed 3 notices to the effect of impending account cancellation and urging member to request refund. Notices have been sent on: April 28, May 31 and June 28, 2017
  3. All other delinquent membership accounts with no cash balance on account have been notified only once about membership deletion on June 28, 30 days prior to execution. Any delinquent account missed during the first round and scheduled for deletion shortly will be notified on March 15, 2018.



I received a notification regarding membership account deletion due to failing to meet minimum age requirements of 14 years old. What is this?

Users can subscribe to LG Smart World only if they are 14years of age or older according to the service terms agreement.

Your profile information indicates you are younger than 14 years old so you were sent a notification that your account will be deleted.  Being under 14 years old, please delete your current account. After account deletion, you can create the same account again once you meet the valid age requirement.


Once my LG SmartTV account is deleted, will I still have access to the purchased applications?

Downloaded applications remain in service. Although you sign up again, you still have access to the downloaded applications as long as they are maintained by the vendor.

However, please note, once an application is deleted it cannot be downloaded again. (Download from the store.)


There is remaining cash for SmartTV service on my account. How can I get the remaining cash refunded?

All remaining cash is refundable before you delete your account.

You can start your refund process at the refund site.

Under age users may request refunds to the bank accounts of their legal guardian or representatives and refunds will be processed to the specified account.

I am now older than 14 years but I cannot access the service. Why is that?

Your profile was created upon registration, and at that time, your age was less than14. This is why we request that you register again. Please delete your current account and sign up again as a new user. You may use the same credentials.


I forgot my login ID and password. How can I log-in again?

Your e-mail address is an LG account.  If you have forgotten your password, use the password reset function and log in again.


If I don’t delete the account myself, will my personal information get deleted?

Yes. Even though you do not delete your account, it and your personal information will have been deleted on July 26, 2017 or shortly on April 12, 2018.


I was able to subscribe to the service then. Why can’t I now?

We have updated our service agreement to reflect the legal requirements regarding collection of children’s personal information. The new service agreement requires that our service subscribers be 14 years of age or older.

If you are under 14 years old, please delete your current account and sign up again as a new user when you reach the minimum required age.
