Does it smell awful like burning rubber or old dusts while using the vacuum cleaner?
Causes and Symptoms
- Dust bin is filled up with dusts.
- There are dusts or foreign objects in the filter.
- It is about time to replace the filter.
- There are foreign objects near the nozzle or dust nozzle of the vacuum cleaner.
- It has not been too long since I purchased the vacuum cleaner.
- I used the vacuum cleaner to clean wet areas.
The vacuum cleaner sucks in dusts and foreign objects from the floor into the nozzle and collects them in the internal dust bin.
During the process, the inner area of the robot vacuum cleaner will be exposed to dusts and foreign objects.
If you keep clean the robot vacuum cleaner’s nozzle, dust bin and filter, you can prevent bad odors.
Try this
Is the dust bin full and ready for emptying?
➔ If the dust bin is filled up completely, it can smell bad.
First, take out the dust bin and the large dust separator before cleaning.
For your safety, first remove the battery from the vacuum cleaner before cleaning the dust bin.
Press the dust bin button(separation button for dust bin) to open the dust bin. Then, empty the dust bin when it opens, and then take out the large dust separator and use a cleaning brush to remove dusts.
About once a month, take out the large dust separator and wash it in water. After that, dry it in the shade for more than 24 hours before use.
Do not wash the inner area of the cleaner vacuum cleaner with water.
If moisture enters the motor, the vacuum cleaner can get damaged and it can cause electrical shocks or fire.
Are there dusts or foreign objects in the filter?
➔ Take out the exhaust filter and the prefilter from the vacuum cleaner for cleaning.
For your safety, first remove the battery from the vacuum cleaner before cleaning the filter bin.
After separating the exhaust filter by turning it counterlockwise, take out the prefilter from the vacuum cleaner and shake off the exhaust filter and the prefilter to remove dusts.
To improve the suction power of the vacuum cleaner, shake it off at least once a month before use.
If the exhaust filter or prefilter smells, then wash them in flowing water and completely dry them in a shade for more than 24 hours before use.
Is it about time to replace the filter?
➔ The prefilter of the vacuum cleaner is a consumable part, so make sure to replace it if used more than 1 to 2 years.
If it still smells after cleaning the prefilter, then it means that its lifespan is expired.
As long as the vacuum cleaner functions ok, the filter can be used permanently.
Are there foreign objects near the nozzle or dust nozzle of the vacuum cleaner?
➔ Separate the length extension pipe from the main body of the vacuum cleaner.
After connecting the gap nozzle to the main body, clean the floor dust nozzle.
Using a wet tissue, wipe off the dust nozzle bottom.
Press the buttons on both sides of the battery to separate it.
Did you recently purchase the vacuum cleaner and start using it?
➔ A new product can smell like rubber or plastic due to the manufacturing processes.
About 3 months after purchasing it, the smell will naturally disappear.
Did the vacuum cleaner suck in moisture?
➔ When moisture enters the dust bin, dusts can get intertangled and smell bad.
Separate the nozzle and the pipe from the main body of the vacuum cleaner and dry internal moisture before use.
Wash the large dust separator, the exhaust filter and the prefilter with water as well, and completely dry them in shades before use.
If the vacuum cleaner has a burning smell, then have the internal circuit or motor checked.
