LG Gram - Why Do I Feel an Electric Shock When I Touch My Laptop?

If there is a problem with the grounding, you will feel little vibrations when you touch the product case with bare hands or skin due to the potential difference.

Causes and Symptoms

  • The wall outlet has no ground pin.
  • Current is being leaked from another electronic device.

If you feel small electric shocks, remove the power adapter from the laptop and see if you can feel it again.

Check for electric shocks after removing the power adapter

If you still feel electric shocks after removing the adapter, then a service inspection is required.
If you feel no electricity, then it could be a grounding issue of the power outlet.

Disconnect the laptop adapter

Check the power adapter when it is plugged into a wall outlet, not a power strip

Remove the power strip and use the wall outlet to check if you can feel electric shocks.
